Like MoD I found it by searching for risk-like games on my school-issued crappy chromebook that blocks almost every game. As an autist, I find loopholes of course. I used my mega autism powers to bypass and figure out the password to the admin user and unblocked all of the games. God is great.

Naw, for real though, I became addicted to maps of any kind, geography, conquest, previous empires and the such (not history though). I have a short anecdote for my lack of knowledge of history; When I bought custom scenario, I made a 1939 diplo first. (I can't show the original one since it never started, but this one still has major errors: https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=13781343 )
I just noticed abraxis was there too, and I used to say lel a lot. Oh boy, I miss those days. I can think we can all agree that real time was better during then, whether it was my autistic churning out of the same template over and over again, or it was someone/something else, it was than how it is today. R.I.P. Real Time. Anyway, I had a lot to learn about history (Doesn't mean I like it, I only like the shape/lands/empire of history, nothing else really, it just doesn't interest me much. I get that we're supposed to learn lessons from history, but I don't really need stories of old dudes that lived hundreds of years ago to have good morals.) Notice how germany doesn't own austria or czechia, and how poland isn't poland in 1939. <---autism speaking, I get obsessed with unconventional things such as dragons (when I was in elementary school), dinosaurs (when I was in middle school), and then in 8th grade I became obsessed with maps. I wanted to find a game that I could play that was like risk, and I found this. I've been playing ever since, and I churned out a fuckton of games during summer. Life was good. Back to school, real time is utter shite, not pointing fingers (hillary clinton, iriseyoufall, enderz), but it was probably because of certain players. I have steam, but no EU4, HoI, or any other games of that kind ((I don't have a job)). I love the community, I love the players, and I love this game.

Searched for an risk like game and WarLIGHT appeared first in search results. Played single player for 2 days (MME from small earth looked massive) then migrated to MP open games.

Reddit. I built a similar game and in my thread, someone said people should play this instead.

I was annoyed at the time but now my game no longer exists and I'm still hooked on Warlight.

Risk addict. Used to play 6 player ffa alone against myself in my room. I rolled all the dice and made all the decisions. I used to write out a whole bunch of risk strategies in a notebook and gave each strategy acronyms, diagrams, and multi-paragraph descriptions.

People started wondering what was wrong with me so my parents bought me this risk disc that was supposed to let you play risk online against real people. I could never get it to work though because farmers aren't good at the Internets.

A few years later I found the disc and it reminded me all the good times I had alone in my room. So I typed "online risk" into google and eventually found warlight.

A friend from school invited me to a game. After that I started playing multi-day open games, and slowly found the strategic community. Once that happened, I was hooked.

I found Warlight through Kongregate. I made account in 2011 then quit.

I was *bored* and all the online games were lame. I came back in 2014.

I am more active since 2016.

I never really cared for Risk. The map was imbalanced as hell - I always played with 4-5 players; so the winning strat was to get Australia or South America and let the other players weaken each other until you have accumulated enough armies to start steamrolling everyone (still this God-forsaken map carries on to Warzone, not just for one, but as the first 2 templates in QuickMatch). The late-game cards were also very game-changing that it shifted the whole game into capturing just one single territory every turn and keeping your stack unbeatable instead of protecting bonuses.

And then, one of my friends introduced me to Risk 2210 AD. That was a game changer. You have only 5 turns in the game, but the map was improved drastically.

You have the Land, Water, Nuclear, Diplomat and Lunar Commanders, which attack and defend with a 8-sided die. The cards were different, not just mindless troop reinforcement. The map was a lot more balanced, with more bonuses and Australia finally can be attacked from more than one side.

You could go to the moon, which had even more bonuses.

This game was so beautiful but it had no online version. My friends and I were looking for a way to play Risk 2210 AD online, and Warlight was the closest we could find. I love that you could have simultaneous turns in Warlight.

WarLight Became a craze in my school back in 2014, Dozens of people made accounts.
I joined the crowd a bit late but as people started dropping off I never did! It's kept me going for many a year.

The game went through a revival with my friends about 8 months ago but people started to leave again until about 3 weeks ago!
It is still a game I enjoy thoroughly and lets me connect with them over a single common game.

Thank you Fizzer!

P.S My friends prefer the name WarLight

It's a pretty fun time. But I'm the only one in the group who cares about The Strat Community.
(I beat them all in a Round Robin Tourny on Strategic 1v1)

I randomly stumbled across this on Kongregate, and I realized that this is what I've been missing in my life. I now have no life outside of this game.
