So, I was really happy that mods made it to the game.

I can understand why only members are allowed to create games using mods.
In fact - for the longest time I planned to buy the life time mebership (finally) so I could play them with my friends. I was a very dedicated scenario creator for a long time and I'd like to become one once again. Furthermore I had been thinking about getting a membership for years already. I enjoyed the game after all, so why should I not give someething back in return for a few additional features? Now there was a new big reason, a new bighope for a change that could bring back life to the game.

Well, turned out that I could not even invite non-members to those games with mods.
I am not paying for this.

When it comes to the other changes... I can agree with much of the criticism which already has been said.

I almost feel like I want to retire from Warlight. I am just 17. I have played the game for almost a third of my entire life.
In fact, without WarLight, I would probably not even speak English.

But what I see now is just totally different from everything that made me start playing in the first place.
I fear, I can't stand it much longer.

Players profiles r not comfortable to read.

I agree, I will work on that.

At the moment the android app is not playable, the graphics completely wrong if I click on the territory it is correct.

Can you send me a screenshot?

I use the android mobile app and the pan zoom options seem to have disappeared

I'm not sure what you mean. You should be able to pan and zoom around the map with your finger just like before?

When I go to the points page and hover over the game ID, it no longer shows me who my opponents were and what multipliers

Hmm I just tested this and it's working for me. What browser are you seeing this problem in?

I personally feel like the dashboard page as a whole will be used less now.

Yes, in Unity mode it's not even linked to. The problem is that loading and un-loading unity between every game is a bad experience, so we need to have a multi-player page in Unity. Mobile needs one as well so we had to create the MP page in Unity.

If you want QMs to be more friendly to new players, why do you use a template that isnt standard in most ways as first template

The idea is to require the understanding of as few concepts as possible. Start MME has a lot more to learn, as it has wastelands, blockade cards, one army stands guard, differing neutrals for in-dist and out-of-dist, etc. These features may seem easy to you since you already know them, but I've seen each of these trip up newbies.

[Edit]Requiring/recommending a still-under-development browser seems like a poor approach. Firefox is already unsupported on my work PC so I don't see them looking too kindly on using an untested pre-release browser like 58. Never mind that I almost solely utilize Chrome so requiring a separate browser solely to play Warlight just doesn't make sense [/Edit]

Not that it matters much anyways. It's a good thing I no longer play since the new version effectively freezes my computer while loading. Once loaded, it's much slower and less responsive than its predecessor making the move from cached mouse-clicks all the more problematic. I routinely get armies place in the wrong territory or the wrong territories selected for attacks/transfers due to moving too fast for the game to process properly. Was never an issue with the predecessor.

Another minor nuisance is the elimination of the slider for lower reinforcement totals. I shouldn't have to click 10 times to deploy my armies when I used to be able to have a slider.

Ultimately it would appear to be the last push needed to completely abandon this game.

Trying to play on Android app... and I haven't read through the thread to see if this has been mentioned...

Where are the probability and kill graphs? Can't seem to get projected results without adding armies.

Game settings are all on one page, so practically unreadable.

Cluttered display, too many colors and icons instead of text. If I hadn't been playing for 6 years I doubt I'd understand the controls.

All in all the appearance is horrid and I'm probably going to quit altogether. Good luck.

hey fizzer
my main problem with the design of war zone is that the flash versions colour scheme does not fit with the new colour/design scheme(which i like) but the unity version is unbearably slow and the design scheme is NOTHING like the rest of the site(this could be fixed buy redesigning the rest of the site and making a option when using flash to go back to warlight(using the old site design))

edit: you should also get rid of the red on the forum and game select screen and change it to green

0 - Thanks Fizzer :)

1 - (Adapting from here: https://www.warzone.com/Forum/285682-warzonecom?Offset=32)

The multi-player page is too crowded. Do we really need to see the icons representing the features of each game here? I don't think so. The icons may be giving good idea about a particular open game that hasn't started; but for games that I know, that I've been playing, they tell me nothing. I'd prefer seeing them when and if I'd like to: for instance, in windows that pop up when we hover over the respective maps.

More importantly, the font color of the statement "Your turn for x days y hours", that is, red, is simply a wrong choice, given the background. That statement is quite important for me, I should be able to understand what's written there immediately - but what happens is, the red vs. grey (font versus background) contrast is very disturbing, and it's not a good contrast, sufficient for immediate reading.

The color palette in general needs a renewal (as many other players suggest on this forum). Minimalism should be aimed, in my opinion.

2 - In Warlight we were able to see the info related with attacks in completed (previous, old) turns: like how many attacking armies got killed, how many defending armies got killed, the luck involved. We don't have it now. But we will have it, won't we? Please, don't take it from us!

~~~ edit: I've been answered. It's still with us. You reach it by double clicking.
3 - One thing that was missing in Warlight, and something that Warzone also lacks is the order number. I think it's something you can consider implementing.
What I mean is this: After I place an order, when I left-click on it, a dialog box appears and I am given the options to move the particular order up and down, or cancel the order altogether. I think both/either in this box and/or in an extra box that will appear on a left-click on the list of committed orders, we should be given the info about the rank of a particular order (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.). This would be good in team games, because you sometimes need to tell your teammate what you're doing at which stage of a turn ("Transfering you as the 5th order") - and if you have many orders, it becomes difficult to count them, you know?
Okay, probably this isn't a very urgent matter - but let's have it voiced here :)
4 - It's not a good idea to have "Game Settings" right above "Surrender". Misclicking might be disastrous. This may not be a problem on web-play, because you have the mouse and your control is more precise. But it's a problem on smartphones, because your finger is not as precise. A better idea might be to put "Game Settings" below "Statistics" - i.e., above "Vote to End". And it makes more sense this way, am I wrong: "Vote to End" and then, lastly, "Surrender" - they are both about ending the game, so they should be at the bottom of the menu, without having anything in between, but there's also a hierarchy between them (voting to end is more desirable), etc. I suppose it's clear :)
5 - I want to be able to see my nickname properly. It starts with an inverted S, which isn't a problem here on the Forum and my profile page, but the character is apparently a problem for the games page. The character isn't recognized in any of the multiplayer areas.
Where are the probability and kill graphs?
The probability graph exists on games with luck in combat, and it's accessed the usual way: click Analyze in an attack or select Game -> Analyze. The kill graph, unfortunately, does not exist in the Unity client.
Game settings are all on one page, so practically unreadable.
Can you clarify why it's unreadable? It seems readable to me, so I need more details.
too many colors and icons instead of text
Can you provide a screenshot? I'm not even sure what page you're talking about, or if you're talking about the app or website, etc.
Another minor nuisance is the elimination of the slider for lower reinforcement totals
It should always be there except in level 1 and the tutorial. If you're still not seeing it, let me know where.
my main problem with the design of war zone is that the flash versions colour scheme does not fit with the new colour/design
That's true. Really the issue is that since Flash is a dying platform, I don't want to invest time in improving it. Evenutally browsers will stop supporting flash all together, so it's not really worth trying to improve the visuals of the Flash version when there are so many other areas that are important to improve.
The multi-player page is too crowded. Do we really need to see the icons representing the features of each game here?
They were added since I got requests for them. The idea is they help you identify the game, for example "Oh yeah, that's the multi-attack game" or "That's the no-split game" etc. Those kind of settings are key to understanding what the game is so they're included as part of its identity.
the font color of the statement "Your turn for x days y hours", that is, red, is simply a wrong choice, given the background
It's red in real-time games and green in multi-day games, to help reinforce whichi are which. Which colors would you suggest?
like how many attacking armies got killed, how many defending armies got killed, the luck involved
This is accessed by double-clicking the order now. It was hover in the old version, but the problem is that hover doesn't exist on mobile devices. Since the Unity app is cross-device, it was changed.
It's not a good idea to have "Game Settings" right above "Surrender". Misclicking might be disastrous.
There is a confirmation message, "Are you sure you want to surrender", so I don't think that would be a big issue. Have you ever actually surrendered when you intended to view game settings?
Good to know. I was playing level 1 just to try to get a feel for the Unity client and compare browsers. Too laggy and slow to load on my older machine to bother doing anything more. Glad to hear I just happened to hit a corner case.
The standalone isn't an option either since Symantec balks at it.
No, I didn't. Because I clicked everything overcautiously! Still, even with the confirmation, it'd make more sense to have nothing between "Vote to End" and "Surrender". They make a good pair, they are both about ending the game in a way. Am I alone in thinking this way?!
No Fizzer, it's red in multi-day games. (You probably misunderstood me.)
Look at this one: https://i2.wp.com/sillynamenace.files.wordpress.com/2017/11/multiplayer-_-red.png
I think the real problem is with the background. But assuming that you'd like to keep it, I think the ivory you use as a player color would work better there. I simply picked the ivory from my player color, and wrote the sentence again (you see it on the image I'm sharing with you). My font is probably bigger than yours (heh!), but even so the difference isn't big.
I don't have a designer's eye, so I'd recommend you to take more opinions on this. But if this grey stays, I think the red should go. Ivory looks nice.
No but really, +1 to Ƨillynamenace's suggestion there.
EDIT: @ClanPage / Dan, the Clan Icon should be on that page somwhere. Say, in front of the clan name?
Also, does it need to say "Clan: Prime" ? I think "Prime" would just work fine?
How can I send you a screen-record from the graphic trouble I have with the android app and told you already , it's an mp4 with 100mb?
There you can easily see that it is not really playable, I have this trouble only with RT-games!
