If we wish to fairly evaluate the assertion of the OP it is helpful compare like things.

Consider the polling data that has been published by the Gallop organization. On 20 April 2017 Business Insider published an article on what were then the most recent data from the Gallop organization. The substance of the article was the average job approval data for the first quarter of the first year of all Presidents of the post world war two period.

The results for average job approval over the first quarter were as follows, from highest to lowest:

Dwight Eisenhower 71%
Jimmy Carter 69%
Barack Obama 63%
Richard Nixon 62%
Ronald Reagan 60%
George W. Bush 58%
George H.W. Bush 57%

Trump won election using a campaign that flouted norms of political decorum and relied heavily on social media to spread his, at times, controversial messages. His unconventional style suggested his presidency would be like nothing seen before. And that has been true, but likely not in the way he or his supporters hoped -- with no honeymoon period to speak of and approval ratings far worse than any president has received this early in his tenure. On his best day, less than half of Americans, 46%, have approved of the job Trump is doing.

What it comes down to is this, President Trump is less popular than any President of the post war era, for the period of his first quarter.

We have not raised the issue of the President's disapproval rating. In polls which seek to determine how people regard American Presidents they are asked if the approve of the President. They are also asked if the disapprove of the President.

These are two separate things.

You may or you may not approve of a person. However failing to approve of a person is not the same thing as disapproving of them. As such the two questions are asked of participants of a poll.

Trump’s early-term unpopularity is unusual. In the decades since World War II, the average first-term president before Trump had an approval rating of 62 percent on his 175th day in office, 23 percentage points higher than Trump’s. OP ignores fact that the losing Presidential candidate has an even lower approval rating than the president, and that every other time in modern history, the Challenger has seen a decent bump in approval rating after losing.

Yeah, he lacks all of the traits that make a good president,
and has many of the traits that make a bad one.

He is a demagogue and a spoiled brat. One of those people who couldn't care less about the big picture. I would actually prefer pence. At least you know what you are getting in for with him and his horrific behaviour is more limited. Trump is a total liability. I wonder what will happen
