I think America needs a strong centralized government with a one party state (national socialist) and an absolute leader who represents the will of the party and people. Democracies that involve multiple peoples always devolve into identity politics. In your case it was a separate people that whose efficacy was removed. Democracy required an alloy; either one people composes a majority and dominates the minority, or the minority enacts voting restrictions to stay in power. Either way one group has to lose. It was actually democracy and multiculturalism/multiracialism that forced Southern white legislators to enact voter laws to preserve their own sovereignty.
