WARNING:This idea is for Diplos, not for FFA

You maybe think"Neutral AIs?What the hack is that?It sounds stupid..."but someone who plays a lot Diplos know that AIs from booted players can make a mess but without AIs you cant join back after you get booted and chunk of land will become neutral.

Neutral AI is new type of AI left after player gets booted.Neutral AI does not attack until you dont attack it,keeps map filled with nations and it will surely make less mess in diplos than normal AIs.Only problem is that you cant make it stop attacking after you attack it and it will keep attacking until your or the AI´s end or until the booted player joins back.

I hope you like my idea and will support it because I think it can make diplos much better.

This idea is for diplomacy games, not for FFA.

You may think "neutral AIs? What the heck is that? It sounds stupid!" But, as someone who plays a lot of diplomacy: know that AIs from booted players can make a mess. But without AIs, you can't join back after you get booted! Also, your land becomes neutral which harms the whole game as well as yourself.

So my idea is the Neutral AI. The Neutral AI doesn't attack, until you attack it. It keeps the map filled with nations, and it will surely make less mess in diplos than normal AIs. The only problem is, is that you wouldn't be able to make it stop attacking, after you attack it. Also, it'd keep attacking until the game ends [?] or until the booted player joins back.

I hope you like my idea and will support it because I think it can make diplos much better.

(Hope this was a tiny bit more legible).

My thought: Yeah sure, but generally AIs are written by community members, and not Fizzer. I don't think this is on Fizzer's immediate roadmap, but I think he'd add it to the list of accepted AIs if you can find someone who's able to program it properly.

Hello

Your idea is awful but I would still support it, since if Fizzer implemented an AI which only attacks you, if you attacked it first, he would have to make it first possible for the AIs to have a memory (and thus I could expand my AI to finally crush on the ladders). With the current AI framework, the AIs will just forget that you attacked them. And the only way to carry some non trivial information between the turns would be to encode it like in your deployment sequence or whatever.

^That answer couldnt be more Norman than that xD

Anyways, neutral AIs could be fun to play with once or twice, if that allows Norman to make a better AI bot, I'd be even more in agreement with it.

Just out of curiosity, do you know the precise rating of Wunderwaffe? (With a player that used only run+commit in the ladder for a substancial ammount of games to reduce statistical fluctuations)

what about just an AI that does nothing but deploys on fronts aka Prod2.0 without attack/transfer orders? main job would be to stay as a placeholder until (if) the booted player returns from AI.

yes that would be one utterly useless AI but hey, given the popularity of diplos this could at least make AIs useful to at least let willing players to return to control.

I used Wunderwaffe on the ladder for about 20 games (not always committing because especially in the latter part of the game it is not as good), and I couldn't get above 1520 or so.

Alhough idea for implementing in diplo games sounds good, there are some problems that can influence game's flow.

For instance, people with neutral players (AI neutral) at borders will not need to disturb them and they will not pose threats until attacked - so people with bordering neutrals can easily focus on live neighbors. But, if there is neutral AI that can attack if he sees weakness in your defense this is different story.

If players that are booted get back, they will have cumulative armies that were not used in clashes, thus they will be in better position than people who play continuously.

Maybe diplo games should have different settings, so there should be rules that only work for such games - there is a major problem that Fizzer didn't show will to support diplo games.

I agree that diplo games start to suck when many players get booted, but this may not be the way to solve the problem, it would just make more problems.

this is already the case for the current situation of diplos, AI or not; if one player's neighbour gets booted and goes neutral, he will of course focus and stack more on live neighbours. Implementing an AI will barely change this, if at all.

If players that are booted get back, they will have cumulative armies that were not used in clashes, thus they will be in better position than people who play continuously.

there's already a solution for this if wanted, it's called "army cap".

Overall, I still believe there should a passive AI for diplo games that only deploys on fronts. While having a "diplomacy" gamemode is of course something all diplo players would ultimately want, it doesn't necessary have to be immediate; the condition of diplo games could already increase dramatically by making simpler updates like this one or with some uservoices ideas(like https://warlight.uservoice.com/forums/77051-warlight-features/suggestions/5702941-auto-deployment-in-one-territory-bonuses-when-play) without totally changing the WarLight engine to add a new gamemode.
