You would have slaughtered thousands of Syrians, put tens of thousands of US soldiers in Syria, and you'll probably try to take over the rest of Syria. Either way, you've done tons of damage to Assad, violated Syria's sovereignty, probably killed a great deal of Syrian troops with your program of indiscriminate bombing across Syria, and y'd've destroyed vast areas of Syria.... you know, the place Assad wants to unite. Heck, I doubt you'd have Free Syria even as a ally after what you did. Because, you know, they wanted to still have a Syria for them to take over. Presuming you'll be striking in Iraq too, what makes you think Iraq's folk and rulers will be happy with you as well?
