hello. Attempting this game, I am trying to take out the first captain I can. I reach him through europe. I notice that another AI is beat by an AI with an attack of 13, without the captain. BUt when I try to attack the AI WITH my captain and 18, I do not win the battle. What the heck?

First of all forum is categorized and there is a "help" section, which can be found here: https://www.warlight.net/Forum/f7-Help

It is hard to understand what problem you face, because you do not present enough information. But I believe you can find your answer in these two help pages: Commanders and Attack/Defense ratio

I attack commander with my commander and 18 armies, and he does not die. I repel. However I watched another AI WITHOUT commander attack an AI WITH commander, with 13 and win the battle.in both cases the AI with commander that was being attacked did not have additional troops.

Since your situation appears to be impossible if it occurred as you described, I would recommend posting video or screenshots of the before and after to provide proof and allow for inspection.

which part seems impossible? how do I take screen shots? can I instead, post the link to the game?

ok, I cannot, because it is a single player game, and I played it since then. Sorry you don't believe what I saw. or evidently you're seeing I see the impossible. so be it. Thanks for no help. I don't know why I waste my time asking people that waste their time answering questions they don't know the answers to and disbelieve other people.

Acting like a petulant child isn't going to get you much of a positive response.

I said it was impossible since the math you described simply doesn't work. This the request for visual proof since you are most likely misrepresenting or misunderstanding the scenario. The alternative is that the game mechanics failed which I find extremely unlikely.

So go back to Computers 101 and figure out how to grab a screenshot to post so we can explain how you failed.

I suspect that you are fighting a "Boss" and not a "Commander".

Is that correct? Click on the territory in the game, and see how it is labeled. They are different. Commanders have a strength of 7, whereas Bosses vary (and are usually much stronger). In some scenarios, their strength even varies from turn to turn.

and a boss can be dammaged. maybe the AI attacked a dammaged boss and the boss you attacked was still strong.

The single player level he is referring to has standard 7-army equivalent commanders, thus my comments to it being impossible as described

few questions.
did you actually watch the turn, or just click show all?
when you watch the turn, stop it when it occurs and hover over the order, it gives better details on what happens.
Commanders are always worth 7 armies.
so that means on standard settings it takes an attack of 12 to defeat a solo commander.
the AI attack of 13 vs commander defeats it as 13 v 7 gives 7.8 losses to commander, and 4.9 losses to attacker.
your attack of 18 + commander vs commander would give (18+7)*0.6= 15 losses to commander, while he would only do 4.9 losses to your army.

It sounds like you just clicked skip to end, or show all, and did not see him place additional troops/have troops move to support him/etc. but it's hard to tell without proof, and since it's SP it's hard to keep record of it unless the game is still in progress and you can go back to it's history.

RS wasn't being rude, he was telling you that what you saw was impossible as according to the rules of the game.

also they could of had an attack that lowered your attack from below 18+7 prior to you attacking their commander.. but all of these scenarios are only possible if you don't physically watch the turn.
