You base a country's current economic status on it's former status, not the status of other countries. And if you replace jobs report with any other subject and that still works, and it ignores that the point of economic policy is to make a economy work better than if other policies were implemented. If your policy doesn't just not make the economy work better than it would with other policies, but actively sabotages the economy, then it's a bad economic policy.

When somebody says the economy is abysmal, that to me means in an absolute sense. As in, compared to all economies. If they said our economy is abysmal compared to how it was in the past, that would be comparing it to itself.

So, you're going to, one, say that while I'm not qualified to say how to measure an economy but you are. And two, that taking the word abysmal in a absolute sense means that it's the worst, when it doesn't. Abysmal means bad or very bad, not worst. You can't make a word like good, or smelly , absolute. If something is smelly, taking it absolutely means that it's the worst smell, which is ignoring the actual definition and misunderstanding the word.

No, if you want to compare it to a country constantly at war and being invaded currently, you need to say so. Not when you're judging the economy by a sensible way. And unemployment hasn't gone down, the census just doesn't count folk who have stopped looking for a job.

I don't hate Trump. Actually the first business book I ever read was his, The Art of the Deal. Great book. He's one of the greatest self promoters of all time, right up there with P.T. Barnum and Adolf Hitler. But besides Kim Kardashian and Major General Smegma Butler, there are few people I'd want running the country less than him. He's a dimwitted loose cannon whose only skill is selling himself. That's great for a campaign but that is not a skill required to be President. The only thing he'll be good at in office is holding press conferences and giving speeches where he tells us how great he is and what a great job he's doing.
