Hi everyone! I need help with this single player level. It´s the one with the cloning bosses. As soon as I kill the boss it clones into 2 and again and again so I don´t know what to do. What´s the trick to succeed the level?
Thank´s in advance.
Ps. I´m not native English speaker, sorry for me English.

My first was a disaster. My second attempt I forgot the boss isn't a commander so I burned a lot of armies on him. By the time I killed him, his four clones popped up and obliterated my income. Then the third AI was too strong to combat both.

Not a fan of not knowing strength or the mechanics behind the cloning. I get that you can calculate the strength but that's only possible by burning a stack to do so

UPDATE: Looks like an update today tweaked the boss settings to show their 'power'. Will have to check it out once on pc. Seems like some good changes in the newest update

Does anybody know a good approach to take to win this map? I swear no matter what I do the asia starting bot always ends up dominating me and getting like 100 armies a turn by turn 10.

I've tried everything, there is no way to do this level. That's it.

You are talking about two different levels.

There is the World War 2320 level (one Boss), and then the "Oil" level, where the Boss makes clones.

They are both definitely playable (I'm not a particularly great Warlight player, and I've tried them both multiple times and won on every attempt, including the first try).

Here's a thread about the first level:

https://www.warlight.net/Forum/154835-having-trouble-world-war-2320-boss

For the one where the Boss clones himself, yes, you must kill all the clones. Each Boss can only clone itself twice, so eventually you will kill them all.

There is also a level where the Boss gets stronger over time. That one can also be challenging, but the good news is that he does "max out" (on turn 15 or so) and doesn't get any stronger after that.

They are challenging but certainly not unbeatable! Good luck.

Poireau, I think you have it confused. The boss changes strength in the Oil level but does not clone.

He does however clone in Caesar's Challenge but does not grow in strength (static 80). From what I have seen, he splits into four 80s upon his first death. (I haven't yet killed the clones to speak to what happens then.) As above, my issue has been that the Eastern forces are too strong by the time I've taken out the boss. Usually at 100-110 compared to my 75 with 2-3 bosses to contain.

cripple partha first before hunting down the cloner?
I did that level on the first try without much effort

Tim, no real surprise you needed minimal effort. You're a few orders of magnitude better than the average player.

Funny you should give that advice though since I'd just come up with that approach after writing the last comment. Also makes me think I need to ignore Spain in favor of moving East with strength.

Yes, you are correct, Richard. Caesar's Challenge is the one with the clones.

The clones can "spawn" twice, upon death. First the original turns into 4, and then each clone turns into 2, I believe. The third generation is "final".

Too bad that we can't review the history of our single-player games, as far as I know. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I'm quite sure that I did control Spain by the time I was fighting the clones. I don't believe I *prioritized* it, however. I was still very concerned with breaking the Parthian superbonus/es (as well as claiming my own from England).

I played the Oil level and the World War level 3 times each, just to see if I could beat the record (I matched it on the Oil level, but it didn't seem beatable), but I only played the Caesar's Challenge once, so I don't have as thorough a memory of how I beat it.

Last I played it (which was after an update):
First clone becomes 4, each of those 4 get 3 clones, for a total of 17 bosses.

You try to attack every territory you border every turn. You don't kill the boss until your income hits about 200. While you are building up income, you can clean up after the boss by deploying 2-3 in every spot bordering him, and attacking him with all of those at the end of your turn. This keeps him limited to one spot in your area and minimizes the damage he can go. It's much easier if you get lucky and have the boss go away from you and hurt the distant AI, but possible even if he doesn't.

You go hard into the area where the distant AI is to cut into his super-bonuses and stop him from pounding you. As soon as you see him pile on roughly 100 armies and attack him last order (he should burn a bunch of his armies attacking your massive stack).

I don't remember details of the first time I won it, but I believe the boss came toward me (though slightly slower than normal, I met him in the middle of the map). I still got it in 31 turns, after killing the boss for the first time on turn 26 or so.

I recorded a video of it when I beat it in 27 turns, but the template has changed slightly since then. When I feel like playing it again I plan to record a new video with the new settings, and will post that to youtube.

I doubt the Oil level can be completed in less than 15 turns. I completed it 3 times since the update, but on all these attempts, the last commander was hiding in Tashkent, 15 turns away from the start.

As for Caesar's Challenge, luck is a big factor. Getting rid of the german AI and taking every territory away from the italian AI is easy, but the rest of the level really depends on where the boss moves:
-> if he goes your way, things become really complicated. Having Gallia broken makes it difficult to handle the parthian AI.
-> if he goes towards neutral territories like Africa and after some time comes toward you, then you can still win the game, but you should forget about beating 27 turns.
-> if he goes towards the parthian AI and breaks the Parthian Empire, perhaps 27 turns can be beaten... but he cannot go too deep into Partha, otherwise the spawns will appear too late... and the parthian commander* cannot stay hidden too deep inside Partha, otherwise 27 turns is not mathematically possible...

rakleader,

The Oil level took me 15 turns, for precisely the reason you mention.

Your analysis of Caesar's Challenge makes sense to me, although I've only played it once so I can't say more than that. Thanks for the insights!

Well that failed miserably. The now stronger boss (despite Fizzer implying he'd start weaker) made a beeline for London. Treated him the same as 2320 boss but he was just too strong elsewhere. Their income was a combined 140 to my 45 by the time I called it.

Disappointed that the format was changed to remove the games played counter. Was interesting seeing how many attempts and victories from both the community and yourself.

The old levels can be found here, https://www.warlight.net/SinglePlayer/AllBuiltIn
There you also have the counter thing. Dunno if it interacts with the new official levels in any way.

Thanks for the help, I finally beat it! Master Jz's strategy is spot on, I pretty much had to sneak an army into Partha's base and assassinate the commander in order to win. Partha is simply too strong to fight in a troop vs troop war.

I'm having a really hard time trying to contain the boss, while expanding to increase my armies per turn, and by the time I make any sort of progress I am instantly over-run by the farthest AI who has 150-250 armies per turn by turn 15 or so. Really frustrating. xD

I remember this one was rather boring, because except for a couple turns, there was very little opposing challenge.. the far AI put forth a little fight, but not a substantial amount, and the cloning ai's was kind of a shocker, but just provided me with a use for my armies I had at that point.
Idk if I was lucky or not, but most of my bosses stayed in the south, so I kept a good portion of my bonus' though.

Managed to beat it in 31 turns somehow on my first try.
