i picked qina because all other suggestions i got were bad, here is an explanation:

from the thread:
- motd's old strategic 1v1 is already played to death
- awesomeguy's ugly earth MA is ugly as hell + big majority dislikes MA
- jefferspin's gme was trolling mod, and we already played that template a few weeks ago
- tehagopedacoz's suggestions might work but he linked maps, not example games of any actual template and i didnt have time to make and test one

from the skype chat:
- mod's guiroma is already well known and i personally dislike it
- mod's ancient greece with local deployments would take forever to end (didnt we already have too long tourneys last week?)

so i went for something i know is interesting and relatively new (unplayed on WGL atleast) and will have fast games and hopefully not hated by the majority.

i don't know to what degree awesomeguy's post is serious or not, but i'm actually quite disapointed with template suggestions, i get very little feedback on what is suggested everyweek, except to tell me it's being boycotted when someone doesnt like something. without even giving any feedback or alternatives.

this is beginning to wear me out, i'm starting to think there is no real interest from the rest of the community to bring on new decent templates every week, and whatever choice i make from the limited options i have, and i do need to make a choice before wednesday or the tournament doesnt get properly announced, i end up getting shit for it and people not showing up.

don't know what kind of picture i need to draw to get people to contribute with suggestions of templates and not get salty when i make a pick, but i'm getting quite tired of trying to draw it for you.

Says the Mustard...

Anyways, my post was a joke. I don't mind what template we play on as long as there actually is a WGL. So, if I haven't been abundantly clear, but I appreciate the effort you and the other commentators put out every week. It's not an easy task.

The fact that you took my post seriously means that people actually are angry at the template choices. Whazzup with that?

Anyone can find a somewhat decent map and put basic settings (0% SR, 4x4 starting, Wastelands, Basic Card Formatting) on and call it good. I can even do that. But what I'd really like to see is a template that requires thought and analysis behind the settings. I cannot do that. There are a small amount of people who understand strategy enough to make a good template, but also be creative about it. Plus, people are quite busy (or too lazy I guess in some cases), to make a creative template. I tried a few months back but failed miserably despite putting in a ton of effort and testing games repeatedly. So, I guess your options are really limited here, because not enough people are available for creating such templates.

i don't know if angry is the right word, but every week i read comments like "glad i didn't arrive earlier to join, this template sucks" and "didn't want to join commentating this week because i knew it would turn out like this with this template" during the stream from people who would usually play or commentate. and this is being said _during_ the livestream, not before.

and it really gets to me, if people felt that way about the template why didn't they voice their concearns or suggest alternatives? all feedback is welcome till the template is decided, yet it feels to me people only talk about it after it's decided, when i no longer can do anything about it. yeah, well, thank you captain hindsight. :S

Im am ready to bitch on Saturday. I would never withhold the joy of commentating with me though. I know you always look forward to my elite analysis. Also there are plenty of templates that I have beaten MoD on so Ill suggest those ones next time. :)

Try this sometime: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=10735577

It's a 4 year-old template. I think WL is ready for it. Years ago I tried really hard to make a good Europe 1v1 template. This was/is my favorite.

yea i agree with MisterT.

The map is designed for 3v3, not 1v1.

the games are quicker than china 1v1.

anonymity: I dare you to play the template before commenting about it. You would be surprised. Like I said, years ago I spent a significant amount of time trying to make a good Europe 1v1 template. This is the only one that made the map worth playing as a 1v1. The others too often led to long, annoying games with income of 30+. So you are right. All Europe 1v1 templates other than this one are not worth playing.
