Clan League 8 is full (no new teams will be accepted).

Here are the rules as approved by the management panel...

1) Alts - A player may only operate 1 account in a given clan league (regardless of division, and must declare their main if using an alt.

2) Promotion system - 2 clans up, 2 down. If a clan drops out, an additional clan will be promoted in their place

3) Tournament Limit - Players may only play in 3 tournaments in a CL season (this is a change from 4 last season).

4) Format - Tournaments are: Six 1v1, Three 2v2, Two 3v3 - 18 player slots. Templates are being assembled and voted on now.

5) Makeups - No makeup games AT ALL. No points if both sides booted. Players will be given a small boot bank to allow for a mistake.

6) Retirements - Someone can take over an account for a retired player if it is declared and they violate no other CL rules in the process (RR limit, 2 clans, etc). A player can also be replaced entirely in a tournament due to retirement (if you have no access to their account), but only in games not started yet.

7) Cheating - Determined by panel (if not stated here). Cheating is 1 season ban (min) and loss off all points in those games.

8) Stalling - Highly discouraged. No official rule since stalling is in gray area. A player could be suspended if blatant stalling takes place. Stalling is not taking 2+ days per turn. It is delaying a game that is clearly lost.

9) Failure to join RRs - Players will be given a warning 5 days after a tournament is created. At 10 days a warning will be sent to the players again, and the Clan Leader. All tournaments will be started in 15 days (unless a CL states that player is coming back from vacation soon). The clan leader must replace anyone that declines/does not join or risk playing with an AI in all games.

10) Scores - 3 pts 1v1, 4 pts 2v2, 5 pts 3v3. If there is a tie between clans, Head to Head is 1st tiebreaker, then Tournament wins.

An update with rough timelines will follow shortly.

If a game ended in boot on picks it is possible to see if the winner was also booted by looking at the players speed. If he made picks he will have a players speed for the first turn. If he was also booted and a winner was picked randomly it will say 'no data yet available' for his playing speed

Hello

To prepare Maestro Hunters I'm especially interested in the max amount of players per tournament and in the templates.

A RoR and euro SR for the 3v3 would be nice since these are the most popular 3v3 temps on warlight.

I don't know what you mean Norman. I stated the max amount of tournaments per player (3).

What do you mean by max players per tournament? Each clan has 1 team in a RR.

Oh I don't know why Chris didn't mention it. ONE! got the XS spot, XS will have to start at the bottom if they want to participate.

Not totally right. XS will be in 2nd to last division taking the place of darklords

Divisions are posted in the sheet with the templates

11) Don't play the same template two seasons in a row!

When I organized the first two seasons of 20, I followed this rule. Why? Because elite competition should be about players' abilities to adapt to multiple different strategic templates and maps.

What I've noticed with Clan League is that the same templates are recycled again and again:

1v1s: 1v1 ladder (old/new), Guiroma, Greece
2v2s: Guiroma, Europe, some version of the old 2v2 ladder
3v3: Europe, Europe, Europe

There are at least a dozen top level 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 templates. For example, if we had rule #11 (above), we could vote from among the following top templates/maps that were not played in CL7:

1v1s (17 templates)

EA&O
French Brawl
Poland
Battle Islands V
China
Turkey LD
Strategic Turkey
Europe 7-Card Hold 'Em
Treasure Map
MME LD
Greece II LD
Phobia
Snow Mountains
GME III
Orinocoflow's Ancient China
Heavy Earth
Something with Commander settings

2v2s (17)

China
LOTR
Poland
Guiropa
Final Earth (ladder)
Final Earth (3 starts, no cards)
Final Earth (4 starts, ladder cards)
GME II or III
Treasure Map
EA&O
Battle Islands V
Battle Islands III
Greece II
Medieval India
Republic of Macedonia (3-4 starts)
Renaissance Italy
Austro-Hungarian Monarchy

3v3s (12)

LOTR
Poland
Guiroma (2 starts per)
Battle Islands III or IV
Europe 1600
RoR (A picks the templates, so we won't pick this shit, but it could be voted on)
Eastern Asia
Medium East Asia
Africa
Final Earth (it's big enough for a 3v3)
Medieval India
Europe 2.0

All of these are either (A) somewhat popular templates (played in tournaments or ladders), (B) underplayed strategic templates, or (C) maps rated about 3.9 or higher that would make for good strategic templates.

Having more varied templates would certainly be a good idea. I really hope Europe 4x5 WR will be removed.

This hasn't been mentioned officially, probably because we're not quite ready to vote on templates yet. But there will be a limit on the number of times a single map can be used. In short, there will definitely a maximum of one EU 3v3 tournament, and a separate template/map will be used for the other 3v3.

We did not discuss forcing a different template each season, and I wouldn't endorse such a thing, so try to convince the other four on the panel. :P It would be up to the voting clans (of which French is one) to change the templates each season.
