I know, I just find it hilarious, when US-Americans confuse the USA with the continent America. They really think they are that relevant.
America can refer to a country or a landweight. I find it hilarious that you insist on calling countries their formal names. You can say Austria/Österreich to refer to the Austrian Republican government, not just the Austrian region (Südtirol, some Hungarian lands), you don't have to always say Republic of Austria/Republik Österreich. Gosh formal sticks these days.
United States of
Americaor,
America for short.
Actually it's even the contrary, Only "Americans" claim that UNited States of America is called "America". In French we call you specifically Etats-Uniens or Ricains, it is more relevant, in Spanish they also call you Estados-Unidenses.
And this is not only Europeans, the Chinese call your nation "Meiguo" whereas the continent is "Meizhou", you see they are differentiated. You are the only ones considering your nation incorporating the whole continent by "America" or "Americans".
Don't speak for, what, 6 thousand million other folk. It's really just some West Europeans that think this. Just since China has 2 words where English has 1 does not mean China call America by official name, it means China is not applicable.
What are we then? United Statists? That sounds terrible.
Heh.
