Hehe it can be quite close at times, but people do spend a fair amount of time shitting on each other. Of course after a while you know which side is 'right'.

The real close community's are clan's

ah Zeroblinddragon! Merci mec :) now that you tell us his current name, indeed I know him :) but I was never insulted at all while playing with him.

Actually I now remember there were also some legendary games between Lolicon and NZphoenix, both drunk, playing the real time ladder, Loli showed us and even kept this link as his only favorite game (in his now dead account since he has been suspended forever not so long ago...):

Just 2 small extracts here:

the dialogue between them was truly hilarious x)

I have no idea why everyone is taking what game type they play so seriously. Strategic players rarely play diplos, Diplo players are trying to become a part of the strategic community but:

Why? If I wasn't having fun playing strategic games I would have quit warlight by now, you guys can play diplos rather than quit warlight, but if you don't want to play strategic games / complain about their settings - STOP!

Also, I have recently joined 3 diplos with no open seats to see the difference, if it is fun I will try more.

tl;dr - play warlight for fun.

Boston Triple seems problematic if you don't get Australia.

Actually I think it's most problematic if you don't get Antarctica.

Didnt he play the ladder when it was WR? If so losing aus isn't that likely.

Everything about it is problematic. Its just his move.

It can work really well on Straight Round too: https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=9643640

The Boston triple was, and likely still is, the most popular triple pick on warlight among good players. The reason it is a better triple than others, is because it contains access to so many parts of the board. It can influence South America, Africa, and Asia easily. The only region it leaves open is Russia, which is, in my opinion, the weakest region of the main 3(Southwest, East/Southeast are the other 2). Leaving one region open, even if it is Russia, can still be a risky strategy, but with the extra early income the Boston triple provides, it is definitely a viable strategy.

Like mentioned above, the biggest risk of the Boston triple is potentially losing Antarctica or Australia. Depending on the board setup, losing one of them could be devastating, especially Antarctica. Usually losing Australia means you can still take Indonesia or Antarctica; it will just more contested.

Here's how Boston used to be:

Can that example really count as the Boston triple?

Yeah, I mean i picked it 1/3/4, but I think it counts, since I ended up with all 3 picks there.

I guess I always assumed the Boston Triple all had immediate access to Australia.

No, it's just picking Australia/Indonesia/Antarctica. The warlord placement doesn't matter for the naming of it.

The Boston triple is still viable in 2016, as demonstrated in this game:
