No, that tax money is going elsewhere.

Why Americans (most of them + their government) do not care at all about climate change, and why are the US the only developped nation to selfishly always block any negociations about ecology and important measures that need to be taken before it's too late? (see today's Paris World Climate Summit, and Copenhagen, Rio or Johannesburg summits in the past)

Why do you think the divorce rate is so high?

There's more opportunity for scandalous activities, and given the nature of some businesses and the way our law works, it's just a thing that is so easy.

If people knew how messy divorces are, they'd probably just kill each other, so i mean, it's better than that.

The U.S. doesn't have an anomalously high divorce rate (the divorce/marriage ratio is the best thing to look at):

Edit:

This should be, "how messy divorces can be" - plenty of people have amicable separations; divorce doesn't have to be worse than inconvenient.

I think there are very few people who favor an outright ban on the Confederate flag. In my mind, it should be displayed in historical museums, on historical monuments, and someone's individual right to display the Confederate flag shouldn't be taken away. What I think is ridiculous is for states to display it alongside the American Flag and their state flag at their Capitol buildings. It's still the flag of a former nation that fought a war against the USA, and at best, it's a flag that sends a political message. In my opinion, it is not the state's place to send a political message. How would you feel if your state put up a Democrat/Republican flag in front of it's legislative building?

Will answer more questions later.

How can US get free education AND health care without changing taxes? Simple, take some money from the INSANELY HUGE military budget.

Why on earth does US have a policy of being able to fight two wars at one time?

Why.... is the US "defence" budget so untouchable? (Really, there is no country threatening US right now.)

Why... declared war on terrorism? Like how can you even win? (I mean you have lost when you declare war)

What is Edward Snowden to you?

Were in the world would you live? (Merica' is not an option. But if it was, why or why not is it your prefered place?)

And who is paying these taxes?

I knew you were going to ask this. Everyone pays them, but they do so gradually they don't notice. Also, richer people pay more than poorer people, so there is some kind of balance. But anyway, isn't it already happening with every thing the State already supports? Police, administrations, all of them are payed by citizens. It wouldn't make a real difference.

The reason that Americans tend to be so hostile towards taxes is because that whenever a new tax is created it's usually the middle class who has to pay the brunt of it all. Richer people tend to find all sorts of tax loopholes that make it to where they pay less and less.

IF the system was actually fixed to where the upper class paid a more fair percentage towards these taxes than Americans might embrace it more.

Also Pablo, gradual? So we don't notice? Are you kidding? There are thousands of colleges that are paid tens of thousands of dollars by millions upon millions of people. Switching from private-paid education to public-paid education is not going to be gradual, nor will it go unnoticed.

Some americans (republicans, not all. This was an issue on the last debate they had) also believes that increasing taxes, lowers tax revenue as per the Laffer curve. Would be sweet if normal College prices hit the level of Community college prices through. And also be good if Obama managed to make c. college free. I would just take the money from the military. More then enough money there to cover both school and healthcare. (Or do as Angela Davis argues, take the money from the prison system (end the war on drugs, stop 3 strikes, shortest terms etc.) to pay for education.)

1. Becuase we think we are the international police force. We also end up in more "peacekeeping" conflicts then we can handle. And when we leave, things get worse.
2. Because we need to fight a ton of wars. and supposedly beat the commies.
3. We think we can win. But terrorism isn't an organized state like Japan or Germany. It's an organization. It's all eerily similar to Vietnam.
4. Snowden to some is a liberator and a hero, to others he's a traitor.
5. Probably Iceland. Nobody in Europe or America bothers you there.

I actually like the guy. I don't mind the NSA looking at what I do.
