We won't get 64, lets not believe in the 128. Also, STRAT ME is the only template we can play to make players actually come? If you're a good player, this should not be the case......

Well its 1v1 so will be easier to get pepole. But it will take more time to win for best players

nackickwind it's not about showing that you are good. i think it's more that most Players enjoy strat ME more than most other templates.

Well that's the problem: they only enjoy Strat ME, because they feel comfortable in it. But the unwilligness to try new templates is just sad, because I'm pretty sure that they would be able to adapt/enjoy them, yet because they do not dare to do the leap of faith, they stay stuck at the same template.

Edit: Well maybe I'm wrong, and they do play other templates apart from ME, but I never see them on WGL.

Yeah i completely agree on this. Some are just too worried they might lose in the first round or something like that. It absolutely doesn't matter! Just join, play and enjoy ps voice! There is absolutely no pressure. In the end a master, a turtle or a timinator ill win anyways! :D

You may not get as many US players as normal this time, since it's Thanksgiving. So I think 128 is likely unrealistic. Even 64 may be tough, though maybe people will come out of the woodwork for strat 1v1.

32 might be a stretch... o.o

that being said, it will be a couple of days after thanksgiving day, in the U.S., so that helps a bit, you will just not get so many players who actually travelled to stay with relatives, i think.

and on another note...

Count me in! I'm ready to be slaughtered in the first round, but I'll take as many of you with me as I can!!! >:D

Please set it up on Challonge for us to make predictions. That will give whoever is commentating something to do while 1st round games are played.

Now, this might not be that exciting as how WGL usually is, but have you ever considered holding multi-day tournaments instead of only RT ones? I'm not nearly as good at RT, especially on templates I don't know already, and I get stressed for time, etc.

You could have the tournament and then do a stream of commentating on the games afterwards. Perhaps you could mix it with a smaller live event so it's still 'live'.

I think you would get a lot more participation in the actual tournaments that way. I would play, for instance, whereas now I don't because of RT.

Other potential benefits: You can pre-screen which games you will commentate on, so you will end up with a 'highlights' commentation, like how many sports-casters do it for weekly/daily news. You could almost certainly fill up 128 slots or even more with a multi-day tourney. Everyone, including commentators/hosts, could play in the tourney without distraction; there would be no problem with the hosts losing because they are too distracted by taking care of the hosting, and there would be no way for their opponents to cheat by watching the stream. Etc.

At first glance, it might not seem to fit with the 'live' part of WGL, but I think it does have potential to still be a good and entertaining show/event. I would watch them still. I have watched some of the previous WGLs on Twitch a day or two later after I missed them on the Saturday. It's just as good after recording as watching the stream live. I guess the only thing for a spectator is they can't join the chat, but the show is just as good and entertaining and educational. So if it wasn't an RT tourney, it would work just as well, IMHO.
