Seriously, how many times does it have to be said that when you click "All Forums" all this stuff shows up? We get OT is the place to talk about random stuff. But that does not mean people need to troll it and then everyone make excuses because, hey, it's OT after all!

If Fizzer did some sort of update that allowed us the option in our profile to ignore OT (so it would not show in "All Forums"...then I couldn't care less how much you guys post this stuff. But for now, it DOES MATTER.

It takes less than five minutes. Also, what does OT really do to you? You just notice something's in off-topic, don't click it and keep looking for the categories you do like.

Yes, you CAN ignore the off-topic. Instead of clicking all forums, go to the main forum page and open the specific sub-forum(s) that you're interested in. That way you'll never see a single thread of the OT section.

Well, do you think Fizzer checks every forum individually? I doubt it. So at the very least you clutter the board and cause him to miss threads he might otherwise read.

Sure, I can check each board individually, but then I guess I have to do 5 steps instead of 1.

I'm not saying OT should not exist, but why does it have to be a trash bin for everyone's random thoughts? Some people post just for the sake of posting it seems. All I am asking it to cut down on it.

Don't you think it is pretty sad that %75 of the threads on this site are OT (have nothing to do with Warlight)? It only increases over time as well. There have been people doing statistics on the ladders, and they have shown the quality of players on it is WAY down. I don't think it is a coincidence that so many people are on the site just to troll, talk OT, play lotto games to level up, etc...meanwhile the overall skill level of the community gets worse.

Like MOD said, I just don't understand why this is the place you guys decide to discuss these things. If I just look at the OT forums, I would consider at least half of that to be spam even for an OT board. I mean I get people want to debate the public school system, religion, maybe another game, illegal immigration, jokes, etc. But do we really need threads counting in german and spam like that? Honestly, how does anyone get value from that?

You can Chat there if you have no Skype and your mothers don't allow you to make Facebook. there you can do exactly the same things as on that Forum and whenever you feel like making a new thread, just create a new game and invite the same 10 People.

BTW, I just checked the All Forums from a year ago, and the OT threads were about 1/4 of the threads total. 2 years ago when OT started, it was half that.

So if this trend continues, the OT forums will double in threads every year (compared to all threads). So I am guessing by next year we'll have to scroll a few pages in before we get a non-OT thread.

Yeah, you could just make a chat game.

Another option is just make a mail thread and you can post like crazy in there.

Heck, you could even use a clan called "OT Posters Club" and you'd have a forum all to yourself. It could be your secret clubhouse where us stick in the muds can't tell you what not to post.

Case ya didn't notice, I clearly know how to make a game. I've been in over 2000.

Widz, I had that installed, it slowed down general browsing.

Another issue is that it hid them, but it did not consolidate pages. So you'd see 2 topics on a page, and still have to scroll pages. That isn't much different then just ignoring the Off Topic threads manually.

A third issue is I have two PCs at home, one at work, and use my tablet and phone. So browsing in multiple locations requires installs of that stuff everywhere (if there are even those options on mobile)

So while the script is a nice step in the direction, it just masks the overall issue. It's like telling your neighbor to close his blinds (so he can't see it) when he asks you to clean up the junk in your yard.

I've been so severely shocked by the disturbing amount of idiocy on most of the threads in the OT sub-forum, that my therapist is now a rich man.

Out of all of the 1260 threads (51 pages) on the OT forum, let's suppose 2 threads are worth reading. From the newest OT threads, the only ones worth reviewing are "Illegal Immigration" (https://www.warlight.net/Forum/106695-illegal-immigration), and "Public Education" (https://www.warlight.net/Forum/106510-public-education). So, 2 out of 25. Page 2 has three threads worth viewing. Page 3 has only one. So, if we assume a total 2 threads out of every 25 are deemed "worthy of reviewing," the total # of threads worth reviewing vs. the total # of threads in the OT forum is 100/1261 (I've discounted page 51 from the # of threads worth reviewing as, though I find it stupidly amusing, it has no threads really worth mentioning).


Basically 8% of threads on the OT forum are worth reading. At least from a "rather mature" standpoint. I understand many of you still think degrading/insulting humor is funny. But that's what the OT forum is so filled with crap. Fizzer created this sub-forum for the purpose of looping all of the bottom-tier "General" threads into one category. And the pure absurdity of some of these threads (i.e. "I support Rapists/[insert any other provocative word here]," etc.) just makes the OT forum so stupid. I don't think you understand that. Some people who post on many OT threads have my respect. But the majority simply don't because they encourage and/or actively continue to spread this ridiculousness around.
