It's not theft because they still have it. I am against copyright laws in general.

But- anyone who actually pirates nows how to stay safe:

1). Don't seed. Most people get caught seeding.
2). never download porn through torrents. ever. the porn companies would sooner sue than have their porn taking down from sights.
3). a company must usually file a legal suit against you, as police rarely investigate people who are simply downloading
4). Don't pirate music.


my own private rules:
1). Only pirate stuff by looking up "get *name of video game* free on youtube*" then, ignore all videos where the person isnt speaking. then, READ ALL COMMENTS PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.

then download, and scan with bit defender.

There are people with families who rely on game development to support themselves. Also, if it's an online game n expect the plug to be pulled when they don't have money to keep servers running.

i just pirate VNs and they have dedicated and translated versions on websites pretty sure that's pirating only because they are not on steam

Piracy is overblown in some ways (like how much damage it does) yet way underdstressed in other ways (like its far easier than most think).

We have copyright laws to promote business, not the majority folk. Ideas can't be stolen. Ideas can be cloned. You're not stealing money, you're letting folk save.

With no copyright laws, everything is in public domain, and folk make things because they want to, not because they have to.

also: Isn't gamestop technically pirating, too? the developers (including indie ones) arent getting money for it. does that mean there should be console DRM, locking all games to being used on just 1 console?
