CORP Clanwide Blacklist Thread: 8/16/2015 02:27:14

Dublin Warrior

Reply to request for more information in my clan's thread:

Simply put: it is impossible to win by attacking anyone who was smart enough to conserve their armies in a game with zero bonuses...

First, it misrepresented to me by the game creator, Ice Queen as an "easy" lottery with a 95% chance of winning in a forum thread that I can't find. smh.

I was curious, disbelieving, but curious...
so I expressed an interest in joining...
(Frankly, if I had lost, it would still have been worth the education.)

Then in the private ingame chat, the game creator boast that she will win,
(If required, I can take and post screen shots of the private chat.)

I start talking about how cheating is the only logical assumption...

So I start checking things out, both from the history and from the settings.

4 slots / 4 territories 4 / players, zero bonuses on the entire "map",

30% Offensive Kill Rate. 100% Defensive Kill Rate.

Dense Fog: Everyone sees who owns what territories, and everyone knows everyone else's income, but that's it.

Rounding is Weighted Random, Zero Luck Modifier. Reinforcement Card in three pieces for 10 armies. << none of that really matters... you'll see why soon enough.

Each player is given 1000 armies before the start of Turn 1...
the players who see the words lottery and don't wonder or ask about the "Troll" in Troll Lottery assume that they have won...
and send armies...

Turn 1: L33 fackita sends 333 armies to each player. Loses all 999 armies.
Kills 100 armies belonging to each of the three opponents, including me...

I start asking more questions... and basically accusing Ice Queen of cheating...

Ice Queen denies all the way through the game that getting anyone booted is necessary for her to win... but insists that she always does.

Turn 2: Ice Queen knocks out fackita by killing off his remaining 1 army...
Ice Queen sends 4 armies, they lose one each.

Turn 3: I send 4 armies to Ice Queens' starting position and kill 1 army, but she has most of her army still there. I lose 4 armies. Ice Queen has 897 armies, and I have 896 armies, and the L32 Johnny J. player has 900 armies.

Turn 4 thru Turn 7: no one attacks anyone, but Ice Queen does move 6 armies to her new territory.

Eventually, on Turn 8: L32 Johnny J. gets bored, and attacks Ice Queen with 454 armies. Loses all 454 armies. Kills 136 armies.
I thought he knew enough not to attack, but I realized I had left him in the dark most of this time...

Turn 9: Ice Queen attacks him with 4 armies, hoping that Johnny J. also attacked me, but he didn't... then he attacks Ice Queen again with 444 armies.

Turn 10: Ice Queen attacks L32 Johnny J. with 5 armies and they each lose 1 army.

Ice Queen has been denying that getting anyone booted is necessary for her to win since the game started...

By this point, I have figured out that since I have 896 armies, a 30% Offensive Kill Rate, and a 100% Defensive Kill Rate, that I can't kill Ice Queen...

but I have also figured out that she can't win unless I get booted...

because I know that she can't kill me unless I attack first with a large amount of armies...

(Indeed, even if Ice Queen still had 900 armies,
I would have to send and lose over 600 armies for her to kill me off.)

But she has a little over 600 armies total, most of it on her starting territory.

So I continue threatening to blacklist her, and report her to the community unless she gives me a Vote to End which she eventually does.

I don't think a deal with the devil is one that I'm obligated to keep though, so I'm blacklisting her, and reporting her here. :)

Please let me know if I should go to the trouble of taking and posting screen shots of the private chat.

Thanks for listening.

So to sum things up: You got caught falling for a fake lottery trap and instead of hoping that nobody ever finds out you made a public forum post about it? My advice for you is to abandon your account 'Dublin Warrior' and create a new one. Your profile flag is fine, there are to many players from New York to trace your new account back to the infested 'Dublin Warrior' account.

I also said that losing a single ranked game would have been worth the education.

I also said that I was eventually successful in convincing her that a vote-to-end was in her best interests... so I lost time and energy, but not the game.

I posted this here because I consider it a type of scam, like a street hustler.

But please, do encourage your like-minded friends to post here. :)

Again, because apparently, I wasn't perfectly clear:

It's a scam.

I blacklist scammers, and I encourage others to do likewise.

I joined the game suspecting that it was a scam, but I wanted to investigate.

That's the point of the thread.

If you don't like the point of the thread, go make your own.

Pink, I'm not quite sure who you are referring to...

However, if people want to blacklist me because I am reporting a scam to the community, (not Mr. Fizzer, the community),

to educate people, especially new members that the community claims to want,

then by all means, I welcome such blacklisting, and I will wear it as a badge of honor for as long as I play the game of WarLight.

Nice. I have quite a few who blacklisted me. Is there a way to see roughly how much blacklists one have ? It would be interesting to have a whitelist or a way to vote for players daily.

Why Warlight can't have a reddit like reputation system ? It would be also fun to give some rep to tournament creators like vote on their profile. I forget to thank them sometimes.

And we can have a fb friend system type to gather more players. Kongregate is popular mainly because of friend system. Profile functions, customizations, all the chat rooms and moderation is just a bonus. Kong forums are no different than other forums except dumber maybe.

I am just curious. I think it may be only 2-5.

I'm going to assume this person doesn't understand the word "troll"..I Have not cheated In any way.I am sorry if the word "troll" wasn't clear enough for you to check the settings. Why I voted to end?Because you kept on annoying me claiming that I cheated but I infact I haven't.And claiming I'm running a scam?I have only hosted it twice before that. And I didn't even create that template. Why boot rate is 1 day and 10 hrs?Because it's a game with only 4 territory's which would have only took someone a maximum of 1 min to finish there orders.1 day and 10hrs is a "normal" boot rate....if your claiming I'm running a scam because of the boot Rate then look at Poon Squad's games. They are 1 day and 10hrs and you call them a scam too?

P.s:Where's your proof that I have cheated?Name me at least one way I cheated.

Hope to see a reply soon,

Can I chip in here?

Ice Queen is a wonderful host, who is well known for trying out experimental scenarios. I am a big fan of her work because I love to try out new things in this game.

She is an incredibly fair player, one of the fairest in the community, she often hosts practise games and Votes to End. She honestly does not care about winning, just playing.

This game was not rigged in anyway, it was fair, anyone was able to check the settings. Even the "Non-default kill rates" icon is clear as day in the gamelist before you join.

The only troll I see in this entire thread is you, Dublin Warrior. You are not very aware of how this game works, and don't seem to understand the basic principles of it. If you want me to help you I am very happy for you to PM me and I will go through some of the fundamentals of the game with you. However, if you continue to act foolishy and are slanderous to other players I will be forced to Blacklist you. I don't care if you don't care, I just don't suffer fools gladly, and won't have players like that in any of my games.

Trying new things is a great way to develop your understanding of this game and improve your skill level, I wish you luck in the future.

Look, I've said it before and I'm gonna say it again: the responsibility falls to you to check the settings before joining a game. The host doesn't owe you anything. Think of it as the terms of service you read and accept before using a service like Facebook: it is your responsibility to read them and think carefully before accepting and using their products. If you fail to read the TOS and accidentally sell your soul to the devil, it is your fault for accepting, not theirs (as log as it is clearly stated in the terms). If you dislike the terms, refuse them! Complaining after the fact is not going to help you.

Yes it may be a bad and stupid game to you, but I don't think the host intends to cheat or does anything which is deemed cheating. Some people like to try out new things and set up novel/special games with non-typical settings, but this does not make them cheaters.

I would say so if they try to deceive people into thinking it is a typical game, when it is not. In her case, she did not disguise it as a normal lottery to deceive careless people. You can see it from the title and the description. It even says it is an anti-lotto game. It would be stupid to think it is still another normal lottery.

The boot setting is actually lenient for such a simple game. You don't need to think once you see through the tricks of this little game. Some people even give 1 day in the typical games, but you need to recognize some people like faster pace. You can't say they want to cheat simply because of that. I have seen a case where it is clear the host wants to exploit the boot rate to cheat easy wins. I will open a new thread to talk about it.

(Edited: A new thread is made:
https://www.warlight.net/Forum/109254-dirty-way-cheat-wins )

Stupid game......maybe, but it is far from cheating.

I understand the frustration you had after playing a game which turned out to be completely different from what you expected. Sometimes it is not easy to get the full picture by glancing through the settings. I would suggest asking the host before joining next time.

P.S. It is not a good idea to use a link as the title of the thread. You should have given a better title.

I was skeptical from the beginning.

I was more frustrated for the other two players than I was for myself.

The community decided that Ice Queen was well within her rights to host the game the way that she did.

So be it.

Don't do that, it pisses me off when people do that because it makes the whole thread make so sense to anyone reading it later.

That's just my opinion though, obviously I can't stop you.

I think I understand where you're coming from with the other players, in fact I think this has been raised before with the "SunGod" incident. If a new player joins warlight, plays that particular game and is like "wtf dis is crap" then we might lose a potential player.

But my counter points would be this: New players generally try a few various games, if they lose, they just join something else and try that. Secondly a player who gives up after losing game (for any reason) was likely uninterested in the game anyway. Thirdly, there is a good single player section they can always go to instead to learn. Forthly I think if anything should be changed it is probably the coins section being on top, new players seem to get triped up more about thinking you have to pay to play this game that anything else I've noticed. Even though I'm a transfer from Kongregate I was thrown by the coin games and thought maybe you had to pay to play on Warlight.net and almost left, took me a minute to realise there was a section below. Seems the wrong way around to me, or should be clearer, imo. I bet we lose a lot of players due to that.

That's why I asked before I "deleted" my posts instead of just doing it. :)

I don't like it when people censor the entirety of their own posts either,
as I am a pretty good judge of character, and if someone is full of it,

I'll figure it out, and if they have a point, but they are still half full of it,
I'll figure that out too.

As for your generous offer, I'm always interested in learning from top players,
especially as I just got schooled in a small earth round-robin tourney...
( There were so many games that I felt the need to rush, even though it really wasn't necessary...)

But yeah, I know that I have a lot to learn about the game.

I'm in 5 at the moment, and that's a lot for me. :P

lol, well I'm not a top player :P But I always enjoy talking about tactics, and Small earth is one of my favourite maps, I just joined that league, I should have joined when it started really, but I felt like that template is too luck based. Figured what the hey, lets have some fun...

If you want to have a game just invite me, or if I'm online I'll be in the Warlight chatroom :)

It's good to try not to rush games, I know sometimes you can feel pressure but I think honestly most players don't really mind how long multiday games take, so long as you're not just waiting for the max amount of time each time on purpose.

Edit: Oh wait, you're leaving the league? Why? It'll reshuffle and you'll be put in a league closer to your level, so should be more balanced for you this time.

@Fleecemaster
in fact I think this has been raised before with the "SunGod" incident. If a new player joins warlight, plays that particular game and is like "wtf dis is crap" then we might lose a potential player.

Sun God is cheating in that he set up rigged games to give him tremendous advantages to guarantee wins. I'm fine if those games are automatically set as practice, but the system is bugged and let people set games with custom scenarios (the heaven of rigged games) as ranked.

This game does not give the host any advantage. She just knows how to play moves correctly, but if more than one player knows it, the game will end up in a stalemate.

There are auto games. It might be a good idea to sticky them so those games are shown first to the new players.

I honestly don't think a new player is going to even notice the difference between a practise and a ranked game, and I'm not sure how it would make a difference to them if they were going to lose anyway. I still think my point stands though, they would most likely just try a different match, or leave because they weren't interested in the game anyway.
