When your going on / planing to go on vacation, you'd want a few days of delay before you join the game, because the boot time isn't long enough to ensure that you definitely won't be booted, assuming that vacations aren't honored. Also, if you get booted, you could be filtered out of more games, from higher boot rate.

I would like auto-joining games to be optionable, not compulsory, because of this reason.

Yeah that would just allow people to slow things down again, ruining the entire point of auto-join. It'd be fine if this were done on the creator's end, but even then, we have vacations and it'd be better to just fix those instead.
