Armin why you hating on people who like on Anime. It is indeed pleb-like to enjoy Anime, but the fact is that it's not all garbage (there's LOADS of garbage) and that it is really a harmless habit. There's also more of them than us.

I was making fun of Kilos for calling Historia Reiss Krista Lenz, because that's her fake name that she has for the first few story arcs. The SnK anime has only gone through those arcs, while in the manga her real identity is now known by the entire Wall population (see the spoilers on my profile for more info).

I was calling Kilos an anime-watching pleb not because there's anything wrong with anime but because the SnK anime isn't nearly anywhere as far along the plotline as the manga.

It's kind of like someone into ASOIAF mocking the Game of Thrones plebs.

Anime is great- NGE, SAO, etc., are all better than most things you'll find in other forms of entertainment.

I'd rather read a YA novel than manga mumbo jumbo.

Comics are always going to have an advantage on digital media because they are not limited by time Constraints or things like casting.

That said, digital media can often do justice for comics.

Watchmen is an awesome example. Rorschach ftw.

A typical YA novel is scarcely better than a SyFy original.

Actually, the SnK anime beats the SnK manga artwork by miles. Isayama couldn't draw at all when he started.

Sometimes digital media can improve upon print media. Watchmen didn't really improve upon the graphic novel (I think the plot changes kind of ruined it), however. And V for Vendetta is a good example of it going horribly, horribly wrong.

Sure you can recommend classics like Naruto or One Piece. But what about other animes? Surely there are other animes which deserve a note as well?

Mecha:Im a fan of mecha showes and there are few is care to actually watch.
1.)Knights of Sidonia - Humanity is attacked by a race of mysterious aliens. Earth is destroyed but humanity survives in seed ships which make their way through space looking for a place to call home. Its has an interesting animation affect to it thought. However if you can look beyond that its a great show.
2.)Break Blade - In this story, humans are more sensitive to magic which they use to their ability in operating mecha suits. What made this story interesting for me was that it had a nice blend of magic and mecha. Neither over powered the other in the story. You don't see fire balls or lighting stuff you might expect.
3.)AldNoah.Zero - In the future, mankind colonize Mars. The inhabitants of Mars uncover powerful sources of technology that the previous dwellers left behind(for mysterious reasons). Mars revolts against earth and forms its own empire. After that event political tensions remain high for many, many years until a peace mission gone wrong happens.

I like these particular mechas simply because the mecha make sense from a realistic stand point. Not like Gurren Lagen.

I can offer other suggestions for other areas but mecha is what I like best.
