Once Genoa obtained a vassal Montferrat, then came a period of peace. Of ten years none came to attack Genoa, and Genoa attacked none. In its capital, Genoa expanded its naval power. This, of course, came across as aggressive with its naval rival, Venice. In the past years, tensions began to rise, as Venice and Genoa competed to make bigger, better and more ships than the other. Then, in 1459, the two naval powers went to war. |
