Okay so I drew a map of Scotland. I simplified as I went and I realized every time I simplified the new piece it also simplified the original line I drew first to the extreme (because they were connected). Any way to avoid this or do I have to draw the entire thing in one go?

*Edit* And one more question. When I draw a smaller line off a big one how do I connect them? And where do I click to assign a territory its ID?

An easy way to connect two lines is to use the pen/bezier curve tool and start off at the endpoint of an existing lines.

As for naming the object, it's going to be on the bar to your right under Object Properties. The Wiki tells you the keyboard shortcut for getting there.

But when I try to give an area an ID were do I select? I draw the line around the area but it doesn't seem to recognize the inside as something separate from the outside.
