as far as I know it is mostly about the reauthorization of the patriot act and the attempt to avoid public debates.

I really think this is just MSNBC. MSNBC is the most retarded "news" outlet ever created. They only occasionally report important news to justify themselves, otherwise they talk about dumb crap.

Fox News actually has a purpose (propaganda) MSNBC just tries to make a "counter arguement" so the US news outlets don't look as biased. Which means it has a purpose so yeah :p

What could be more important than watching Bieber suffer? Think of all the joy that story brought compared to that other depressing story.

Fox has the benefit of being known liars while those poor bastards over at MSNBC have to pretend to be legitimate.

A few months back there was an American bashing thread and someone asked what can we do to fix it. The biggest problem seems to be people not paying attention or simply not giving a shit. If we care more about the private lives of celebrities than what laws get passed then we deserve what we get. If I were to ask random people on the street to name as many Kardasians as they could I bet everyone would name a few but if I asked everyone to name the Governor of their home state or who their senators are I bet less than half could answer.

Over 100 years ago we banned private prisons because we realized it was a bad idea. Too bad we're dumber than that now and continue our downward spiral. It would be nice if we could get our priorities straight but I think we will continue to burn this place to the ground. Too many people have the attitude of "As long as I'm comfortable I don't care" or "I don't want to rock the boat" for things to change.

We need some muscly armed country to come liberate us.

There is no liberation that could be had if the people do not wish to be "liberated". Only a revolution within the minds of the American people, than America itself would liberate America.

This is just capitalism in action. Note that the driving incentive of msnbc is to make a profit- which it, as a media outlet, does through advertisements (which, in turn, are driven by ratings).

In other words, msnbc doesn't have an incentive to provide useful/"good" news as much as it does to appeal to and reliably attract a large audience that advertisers want to advertise to. This is why you notice a significant difference in behavior between msnbc (private, driven by profit) and the BBC (funded through taxes). MSNBC's biases are more ridiculous and result in an obvious tendency to prefer gossip-type news while the BBC's biases are generally cultural or reflect its ties to the British government.

It's just plain behavioral.
