Yeah, so I'm watching this show, and every episode blows my mind. I've taken a mystery from the show and adapted it into this one. Try it if you want, and point out any flaws, if you find any.

I do not take credit for this mystery, but if I told you where I got it from, I would be stupid.

IF YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS FROM, DON'T SOLVE IT, PLEASE.

A group of six members from a school’s rock-climbing club take an unofficial trip, but end up getting lost in the woods. They eventually come across an abandoned town, but the sun will set soon and they have to find a place to sleep. The group stumbles upon an old school and decides to try to find their sleeping place in there. There are blueprints for the building that they find in what they believe to be the secretary’s office, along with many keys and a single master key. The normal keys have been previously labeled to show which room and hallway the key is used for. They take the normal keys and leave the master key, so if anyone needs it, they will know where to go to find it. They go back to the spacious commons area to decide how to go about things. The students split up the keys by hallway, so each member has a set. They need to find a good, safe place to sleep. Their method is to search the rooms of the school, and any rooms they find inadequate, they close the doors to. The group splits up, three on the second floor, and three on the bottom. The floors are almost identical, with three hallways on each floor. They need to stick to the walls, because there are windows only in the rooms, and it is rather dark in the hallways. In almost every room they come across, they find broken glass on the floor from the broken windows. The student to the left of the top floor hears the footsteps of some of the others already gathering back in the commons and yells to them that his room may be adequate. He then goes to the commons himself. After a few minutes, five of the six students are gathered back in the commons, and they start to worry about the sixth. After a while, they start to go in search of him, to the bottom right hallway. They search all rooms they pass, but only find broken glass. They reach the last room in the hallway, only to find it locked. Two of them go to get the master key through the commons, and they come back and open the door. They find the sixth student dead in a small pool of blood, in front of an intact window (inside the room). The group sees the blood and a couple blotches leading up to it, and they try to assess the situation, but in their grief they cannot think. All they can do is look out the window and into the neglected, undisturbed lawn of the abandoned school to divert their attention from their dead friend.

Now it's up to you to find out what they couldn't. How did the sixth student die? Was he killed? By whom? Was it a tragic accident? Were there more than six people in the building? Oh, the possibilities.

Try on your own by PMing me, or solve it together here. Good luck.

You might want to edit in the actual question. I assume it is sth about how he died, or who killed him?

Do we know if there is a wound?
Does the dead guy still have his key on him?
how far is he from the door? from the window?
is there anything that could resemble a weapon near the body?
is there any blood on the furnitures near the body?
Are we sure the dead guy is really the guy they were looking for?

The blood is his.

He would have his key, but it shouldn't be relevant.

The exact spot he was found in doesn't really matter, but I suppose around the middle.

I'm not going to tell you anything about a weapon, other than the fact that the guy bled, and that the window is intact. I want people to think about what they read to learn about a potential weapon.

Since this is an abandoned school, there shouldn't be much furniture. I guess there could be a blotch or two of blood leading up to the puddle. I will actually add that.

It is said that he is, in fact, the sixth student.

was he shot or stabbed? (even an idiot can work that out based on the wounds)

True enough. He suffered a wound from a non-trajectory object that would make him bleed. But the others would hear if he was shot, anyway.

you were elusive about the master key, did they go back to get it in the secretery's office? If the guy was dead and he still had his key on him. And the door was closed behind him, it means the master key was used to close the door

it is a standard locked room mystery, looks like detective conan lol
there aren't enough clues to be able to solve it univocally btw

also, i guess you forgot to say that the murdered guy had the key of the room with himself, otherwise it wouldn't be such a "mystery"

where are the blotches leading?

That was actually supposed to be mentioned in there, I don't know why that info. wasn't in there. They went through the commons and got the master key. Also, I used my school's doors to base this on, and they are lockable with a key on both sides. At the time, I thought all school doors were like that, but that should have been mentioned in some way.

The blotches are leading to his corpse. DO you mean "where are the blotches leading from?"

Okay, I'll tell you:

The door.

This info isn't truly needed, for one could come to the same answer if they really break down what they read, but this is just a beta for the riddle. I'm trying to find how difficult is too difficult. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to solve this riddle if my life depended on it, but I'm rooting for you all.

No. An old key going through clothing and making a wound bad enough to kill a man is impossible. Plus, how would the killer go about getting to our victim?
