I thought the fastest player on the fastest team went first. Is there luck involved ? https://www.warzone.com/MultiPlayer?GameID=41941329. Definitely changed the trajectory of the game as sending a naked commander to progress in s Gaul is risky for turn 2 but suicidal much beyond that

from the wiki
"In team games, the slowest player's time of the team will be used to determine the order of the teams in the cycle. Then, within each team, the order is determined by the move speed of each player compared to their teammates"

Thanks. That’s definitely bizarre. In 1v1 no luck rewards the fastest so if you want to be first pick fast. If you want to be last pick slowest. I’ve had some near boot experiences in small bomb and commander where it was advantageous to pick last but go first turn 1. In a team game if you want to want to manipulate going last or first it’s nearly impossible.

Imagine if fastest got 1st. Then you just have your teammate look at the map first. So when you start to pick, it's just about clicking fast - as you already know where to go. So for team games, the opposite with doing the slowest work. ( edit : one could say that slowest determines the order in 1v1 too I guess. If that makes it feel more consistent)

Bizarre indeed, but makes sense once you get the hang of it!

Now, if you want to manipulate time like a god, you gotta manipulate your teammates too! Makes for more fun games
