How to make this forum better - question to Fizzer: 4/1/2015 10:04:57

It is rather commonly accepted throughout WL community that this forum needs some kind of moding. Therfore I propose a good solution. Lets held twice a year a big tournament where the most active clans will compete.

The idea is as follows:

  • lets take 16 top clans (counting by the average sum of points their members gathered last month (per capita))
  • every clan from this 16 has to field 4-players team
  • they compete in tournament with matches that include 4 teams FFA (this will allow to use between clan diplomacy) 3 rounds. In first two rounds 2 teams from every match* (winning team and the second that has ben defeated as the last one) gets to the next round. In last roud there will be only one winner of course. (16teams-->8 team s---4 teams---> winner)
  • games played with multi-day formula, 2 days autoboot with the ability to return and the option of turning into AI. Surrenders must be accepted. Not too big maps so that the mathes wont take forever.
  • the winner of this tournament will be granted the biggest prize - untill next tournament a year he will ba able to designate moderators for this forum
  • additionally Fizzer could highlit all members of the winnig clan in some way (change the font colour of their names?) so that they will be proud that they won and everybody could see it (this will also last untill next tournament)
  • of course if Fizzer decides that the winning clan is not fulfilling their duty properly he could take back their ability to designate moderators and give it to other clan)

by this we will finally have a better way for clans to compete than rude talks and what is more important - we could get rid of some most annoying trolls from this foruum. Additionally 4 teams FFA formula could lead to elaborated in-game negotiations between clans (for instance 2 of them could team up against another)

*the option with 2 temas getting tho the next round is debatable imho

What? in what way should you have to be in a clan to be a forum mod.

Not to mention the potential for abuse that it brings.

Mods should be active, reasonable players not someone picked by a clan. And certainly not a clan thats 'top' or biggest because it mass recruited.

I'd pick most of 20 as a mod before anyone in the new wave mass recruiting perpetually flame warring big clans.

pick people who use the forums from all points of view who are relatively reasonable and are likely to be able to actually WORK TOGETHER

@Ska2D2 right now there are no mods here, so this could only do better. I believe that the winig clan should be able to choose 3-4 trustfull persons that will be able to carry on that duties. And if not, Fizzer can stop it any moment. Additionaly those candidates designated by winnig clan could require an individual Fizzer aproval before rolling in. 8] About your first question - theretically you dont have to be in a clan to be designated for a moderator - the winnig clan should be allowed to pick people also form outside of it (clan) so if you convince them....

@Thomas - you could do it that way, I propose my way that will grand an additional element of entertainment and competition. What is more - the same existance of the clans will be more valid now

Awful idea. It's fizzers site, he choses his forum mods. Clans have absolutely nothing to do with it. Join the clan league with your clan if you want to play competive clan games.

I don't speak for fizzer. I don't care what he thinks about me but i'm 100% sure it's a bad idea to let a few from the community decide who will be forum mod. That's ridiculous. Ask yourself what you know about your clanmates or other players. There would most likely mods be needed to control what those mods controlled.

There are mods. They are just have annonymity.

I don't want to be a mod.

Being chosen as a mod because you are in a clan with the level of clan partisanship these forums have is a recipe for disaster.

If you are on a forum you can post your point of view. But so can others. Mod can equally say to you, you are not Fizzer's secretary you can't announce ideas for him. That's a two way street.

Just nope. As someone said, it's Fizzers game, he should choose the mod.

Also if the Coin games are anything to go by, it could end up with the same person/clan every week anyway.

Actually reasonable Thomas says.

I think thats hard to find. Since half this community hates gays or people from one country.

If anything, mods should be from OUTSIDE the clans so as to remain as objective as possible. Clan members will be less likely to punish their own and will have peer pressure

^I disagree. People not in clans have friends too. I don't think it should matter whether you are in a clan or not, just use people you trust to do the job right. Which is why this entire idea is bad to me. Gameplay has nothing to do with being a quality poster.

@ Kain: Ska2D2 is right. I know two players that are (were) mods and both are respectable players that cannot be identified in any way unless they tell you. I think that's actually a very good system.

As for clans: the ones I know are both in a (respectable) clan, but I don't see how that would lead to abuse of their powers.
I have no idea how much they can do and I don't care about that (nor should you). Warlight is and remains Fizzer's (and maybe Mercer's?) business, so he (they) deceide(s) how to run the site.
