I do not consider Hungary as part of Western Europe Juq. And it was not an European power which used it, but Mongols.

Hungary is certainly eastern Europe - it is distanced to the west from Lithuania.

But let's say that it isn't:

Sevilla Battle (1248): The Christians used it against the Muslims.

1066 was an unimportant year, unless you're in an island in which noone lives in and is fighting each other all time.

Also, World Wars were wars, and the Cold War was not a Hot war; no battles were fought.

Well, the UK has a larger area than Moscow.
Nice English "unimportant".

Mmmh really? I think you misunderstood it because it was not Christians but Muslims who used those cannons.

Eh, whatever, Mohi is part of Hungary which is part of Western Europe, and black powder was used.

Good enough in my book.

Iwo Jima took Japan's airbase and gave the US an airbase very close to the only country that would not surrender in WWII. With the tens of thousands of Japanese losses and the acquisition of an airbase right next to the only comparably threatening enemy, I'd say it made it apparent to Japan that it was screwed, not that it changed the outcome of the war itself.

Finland, Russia, Balts, Belarus, Ukraine, Greater Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and the Caucausus are solely Eastern Europe

To Iwo Jima:

Japan had more than 1 airbase, and Iwo Jima; have you seen it on a map? It's nowhere close.

The MSOO was way more important in terms of scaring Japan.

Fine. It's not truly important.

So, in place of Iwo Jima, how about the Genko Line and Manila?

Yeah, the taking of the Phillipines was important...but can you really say it's relatively important? Than, to say, the taking of Manchuria or Indonesia or Indochina?

Well, I was actually asking you. You seem to be the expert here on WWII. I had an uncle who fought and died in Manila. Whatever got him killed earned him the Silver Star, apparently. I just wanted to know how important the Philippines was, especially that island, if possible.

I think Yorktown is the most influential battle in history, if not the most important battle. After this battle, America was established, and was set on a course to become the economic, social, political and militaristic ultrapower we see today.

I personally believe the battle of Tours is one of the most important for western civilization. If not for that battle, Christianity wouldn't exist anymore.

Phillipines was American territory before the war. When Japs took it, it was on the list of things America wanted back from dem dare Japs.

After Battle of Leyte Gulf wiped out the remnants of the IJN, Japan was fighting a useless war in the name of the Emperor. Pretty unimportant, but it was messy. Terrible Japanese reconnaisance, and underestimation by Allied forces spelled an engagement where neither side was prepared for each other.

By that logic; I think the most important battle was when humans started to demand species' independence from Missing Link (and monkeys, too).

No, actually, I think the most important battle was between the Earth and the Moon. The Moon might have ended us or slowed us quite a bit. Thank god we survived that one.

I think I made myself clear.

It was an Important battle because of how it influenced our history and today's world. Tell me how much of an impact Kursk had. By that logic that Kursk is important, then the Xth Sacking of Rome in 5th Century AD was important too.

I'd say the Japanese complete defeat at the Philippines started at Luzon Battle.

Ah, thank you for this wonderful title. My opinion on this is that the Phillipines were one of several retakings, and not the most important one either (I'd put it in 4th most important; smaller than Indonesia, Indochina, and far less important to the Japanese than Manchuria or Korea and about the same size as Burma-Azai Hind and Thailand)

In terms of turning points, all these were just operations when victory was already in sight and clasp; the Solomon Islands and New Guinea were the points where Japan could not go on more. To be frank, the Solomon Islands was a half-assed effort by Japan, but New Guinea was the serious loss for Japan, and slowly from there, the Allies slowly took Indonesia and pushed back Japan.
