I am working on a new map: The Netherlands in 1840. It will probably contain 700-1000 territories. Any comments?

Good start so far. Maybe try to make the borders cleaner. Furthermore, you should avoid to place the bonus squares above small territory borders, for examüple: Groene Hart, Gouda, Delft, Alblasserward, Alblasserdam and Reeuwijk. At least you could place all bonus squares in between their territories.

This 1840 map has a total different tactics compared to the other Netherland maps.

All map-making is appreciated, but there's only one Netherlands map that gets played at all, and that's Netherlands HD. Nothing else is (and will be) played.

[NL] Lucas, you are doing a great job making maps, but The Netherlands in 1840 has the same shape as the other 4/5 netherland maps!

Please consider making a map from before 1840, Dutch Republic (1581–1795) or Kingdom of the Netherlands what include belgium and luxemburg.

Perhaps the Holland Kingdom (1806-1810). Slightly different shape; instead of Limburg, you'll get East Fryslân.

I'd vote for how it looked between 1815 and 1830.

it looks actually quite different. There are lots of rivers I will include, Zeeland has many more islands and looks very different, there is no Flevoland at all, and Haarlemmermeer and the north of North Holland is still under water. Also the noordzeekanaal or north sea canal, is much wider and that almost makes a island of everything above Amsterdam. There have been many changes of the Netherlands between 1840 and now, and that is why it is unique. It also offers a good gameplay and this will be the biggest map of the Neterlands, the biggest now is about 400 territories.

That some parts will be less open will be much better for gameplay.

But 700-1000 territories is really a lot!
Rise of Rome has just 273 territories, what is good for 3vs3~5vs5...

But we do have this map that is around the same size:

The only map of the netherlands that has between 12-395 territories is your Netherlands population destiny (169 territories)but that one is not your best map...

For the next map maybe make one of 150~250 territories, so it can be used for fast 1vs1, 2vs2 and 3vs3 games.
Maybe of the Dutch Republic in his golden age? (Dutch Republic is geographic also smaller)

If you can make a map like that, and it will look nice, then i'm sure it will be use a lot and maybe become one of the most used maps. :)
