I have a couple of suggestions regarding booting. Instead of showing how long you have been waiting on an opponent, why not show us how long they have till they are booted. I feel like this will be more helpful and more direct.
Another suggestion I have is for multiday games, maybe have the option to send you a push notification/email when you are nearing the games boot time.
Our clan has received a lot of flak on here about our boot settings and we have altered our game templates but in all honesty every game, even ones with 3+day autoboot settings, has someone get booted. Perhaps if we had a notice when the boot time was nearing this would alleviate this problem.

I like this idea too. Sometimes people have the gall to invite me to 1-day boot team games, and I'm used to taking a day or two per move on average. . . . it annoys the heck out of people when I forget which games are 1-day boot.

I'm not sure I would use a push notification system to remind me about boot times, though. It would probably help, but my phone would explode after a few days.

If you go to Menu > Nudge/Boot in-game, it will show you how when they are bootable including any banked time if applicable. Not really the answer to your question but a little side note.

As for the countdown timer, the problem becomes if there is no auto boot. Then what does it say? "0 hours left, Boot me and win"? While it may be handy, I think this would increase the number of boots. As well, if you use the multiplayer dashboard, every game says how long til you can boot someone on it. It's just a simple compare between that time and time waited.

I think it has the potential to be a good idea but needs to be thought out.

I disagree. Too many people would sit there watching the "1 hour remaining" and changing their turns at the last minute.
The current system is fine.

Mr Cherry, I don't see what the issue is if someone wants to change their moves at the last minute, as you should expect each turn to take the full amount of time. But that's not really the point here.

What Pooncrew is suggesting is more like this scenario:

Let's say it's your turn in two games. One has 2 day boot and one has 1 day boot. But you're also in 20 other games with varied boot times. Both of the two where it is your turn say they have been waiting for 23 hours. This could mean its been 23 hours 1 minute, or 23 hours 59 minutes.

In this case, it would be easier to have something like "you have 1 hour left to move" and "you have 1 day 1 hour left to move," so you know which one to prioritize, and would be a lot more helpful than the current system

I personaly would hate it, I don't want to play too much games at one time so mostly I will take my turn after something between 2 or 3 days. I know that it's not regular, but it would be really annoying to get all of those mails all the time. I think that people must be able to put those notifications off. Pretty good idea, but I think that there are better ideas though.

Marty it would probably be an option to have notifications, i just think it would be an option most should choose

I like the notification option. A lot of times I forget how long its been since I took my last turn, or if I'm playing any 1-day boot games. I doubt people would get many notifications if it gave you a push notification say, one hour before the boot time.

I don't like notifications but I'd really like to see a sorting system by time remaining until you will be bootable. This would be realy helpful.

marty, like most notifications, it would be able to be turned off.
I have almost all notifications turned off, since I check warlight more often then my email.
However.. the problem is meant to solve all sorts of problems.. I am the same way, and tend to prefer to play 1-2 days/turn instead of a constant game, *except in rare situations* and see this as being a great idea.

This is rich coming from a representative of a clan who is accused of rigging games by setting a 1 day autoboot.

I'd be happy to challenge any of your members since you've shown yourselves keen, though we'll have to discuss the template in detail so as to ensure it's a clean game.

I'm not usually one to go off topic in a thread, but Taisho I can't let you bash my clan like that. Pooncrew brings up a great point and you have to derail it by throwing accusations at us.

Can you explain to me how creating faster games is rigging the game?

Yes, our games have one day boot times. But we make a point to tell everyone who joins that they're accepting a game with one day boots. In addition to the fact that it says right next to each game what the boot times are, we specify in the description of every game that it has faster boot times than normal.

It's the responsibility of the person joining a game to know what the rules are. We don't use fast games to increase our win percentage, personally I don't give two shits about that. It's just our experience that games with the standard three day boots take about a month to finish, which is way too long. Not to mention, those games with 3 day boots still have people get booted every single time.

There's not much more we can do. We like our games to move quickly. If anyone has a problem with that, don't join our games.

Peace and love brothers.

Well said queef. The game in question wasnt rigged i told the clan leader 1 day boot times ahead of time so thats on him and his players. Out of the 16 players in that game the only one to get booted was eklipse, early on mind you. No one complained about our "deal" till long into the game when the tide started to turn in our favor.
