Kasp and I have been discussing whether there would be a way to make that into a collaborative, evolving document. The work that Mannerheim (Odin) put into the original document cannot be understated, but I'm sure we can work on something with broader scope with enough input. We will make a post and invite people to take part soon I'm sure.

Mercer, with regard to software solutions to improve activity for WarLight, I think a "global" chat system integrated into the multiplayer and possibly community tabs of the website as well as on the app would add another dimension to clan rivalry, collaborative map and scenario development, and ladder discussion, and just general chit chat which should increase retention of new players. I remember thinking that the community was like a ghost town when I first signed up. I know that there is an IRC, and I visited it once but it was woefully under-attended, the key is that you have no choice but to be in the chat room(s) when you load up the website.

My brother found out about this game on a site calle 'onemorelevel.com'. The site only had single player (It's still there if you wanna see it) he told me about it and we played occasional games until we found out about the actual site where he soon left. Afterwards my sister and my brother again strted playing and we had many fun 3-way games but my sister got bored which lead to my bro getting bored.

Now it's just me and they still don't play even after seeing many updates

I totally agree with this. A chat bar on the side of the page would be an amazing addition!

Yes, that's the one! Studying that document is a very good idea for any aspiring Warlighter.

I have known warlight for years, and my activity is in bursts of a couple of months, followed by a few more months of no activity. This recent burst I did a series of real time imperium romanum games so im sort of an expert on that map and that template now. I could study the guide, but I don't know if this sort of seasonal activity change would work for me to be a good warlighter.

I think a key step to advance in this outreach is the Warlight app

some players only play on the app on a phone or tablet but others (like me) only download when i'm on the move (and too paranoid of getting booted) I unistall the app after i use it because it takes up a lot of memory (downloading maps etc).

I think if some bugs were sorted out and everything looked a bit more neat (like the website) and simple then we might have another audience of players.

In order to compete at the top level, you need to play every day, and you need to work to improve your skill every day.

@ TeeMee123 I can't permanently change the style of the wiki page. I'm not an admin. I'll just improve the content.

related to this, i think more new players might stick around if, for instance, under level 10, they are largely blocked from playing higher level players, 40+ for instance. it has got to be discouraging to be a noob ruthlessly pounded by people looking for a higher win rate.

for instance, many new players go to auto games, but a lot of very experienced players go there as well, matchups between the two are hardly fair.

(and i am saying this as one guilty of occasionally noob hunting)

That could be a problem, however, if I want to play a match with friends I have just introduced to Warlight. Perhaps this would work for the auto games, however

yeah, the autogames are where i see it happen the most, newer players tend to not make their own games. perhaps if people below a certain win rate were paired with ais until their win rate rose again? People who win some of their games are probably ok, but some people are gonna be stuck with much worse win rate, and that has got to be frustrating, going without wins for a long time. after all, some noobs will be worse than others

Beginner players can't filter out high level players until about level 20. If you made that a starting feature, instead of a noob filter, that would help

There are already "Newbies welcome" auto games - perhaps it would only require an adjustment to the pre-requesites to joining those. Alts will be able to circumvent this and continue to be a source for frustration for new players of course...

perhaps if below a certain level, the prerequisites to join autogames with other players are tied to the user's win rate? not sure how hard this will be to code lol

i am not sure of the noob experiance with the new changes but maybe somehow have a way to label a game just for noobs. then while i search for a game i can see the games made for noobs. just make the map have certain requirements like the lotto to be a noob map. i also think a global chat would be a great help.
