I decided to try making a map, and the first thing that came to mind was a world in which sea level had risen a lot so that my homeland, New England, could become an island. I started working on it, and I think I will have to redo the whole Greenland place. Nunavut is also incomplete, and I think I might reorganise Quebec too. None of these bonuses are final, and feel free to suggest changes if you think some work better. I'll probably post in this thread as I progress.

Also, territory names would be nice as well if you think I am wrong (the chance of which increases exponentially as you distance from North America).

Firenze lives in a forest. and you need to put in water (like a blue background), and the rest of the world. But it is a good start.

Never saw Scandinavia get put in the same category as Fennoscandia, usually other way around.

I ended up scrapping that and doing this one in a slightly higher resolution:

I still need to do North America, Asia and Australia which will be exciting.

Wow, it looks really good.
I wonder how are you doing to realize which part is underwater and which is not, because I really tried to find a map where I could see it and I didn't found any.
Really good map, it would be nice if you do one more detailed map when you finish this. Maybe in a smaller region, like a serie of maps on this "post-apocallyptic world", it would be nice.

There are quite a few rising sea level maps like this one:

Yeah I might consider doing regional maps afterwards.

For flood maps, I first took http://www.heywhatsthat.com/layers.html and set the rise to a level which I thought would be interesting.

Then, I took an elevation map (for example, this one: (warning, large image) http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/image/color_etopo1_ice_low.jpg)

I used the paintbucket tool to colour in the gradients which should be underwater as per the first map, and then I resized it and used it as a background image for the .svg file which I traced.

I mainly am concerned over the balance of the bonuses. But that can be fixed easily with testing and maybe a little bit of reshuffling.

P.S. Even if every bit of ice on the planet melts we won't gain more than 300 ft of sea rise.

I think you made a typo with Ireland.

This is a good idea by the way, I hope it turns out well.
