I don't think it should be a 'world thing'. I think you should use the URL mark (the 'WL' think next to the URL) on a black background. This is simple, tells you what it is and looks pretty good.

Just my opinion.

I prefer the colours in the far right image, but I think it's to short and doesn't take up enough space - unlike the far left one. I think I would choose the first one if it had slightly brighter colours, this is because I like the design of the (links) and the space it fills within the frame.

4th now is perfect imho.

it's a bit small, and there 's a lot of background, so maybe try to zoom it to the same level as #1(#1 is fatter somehow ? )

Yeah, the aspect ratio if #1 is messed up a bit, whereas the others are correct.

In #5 I zoomed it in a little more and made a few other tweaks to try and increase the contrast:

5 is definitely the best. though 2 is a good choice too.

4 and 5 are pretty the same, with a slughty change, and are the best.

How about this one?
It's simply No. 5 with the Warlight logo added.

#4 is best by far, it takes the best out of each of the other 3 and combines them perfectly.

didn't see the 3rd page.. :p well I really like moros` suggestion, maybe adjust the Warlight logo a bit (make it 2d, and "sharper" if possible). otherwise I`go with #5

I've got to say- I love number 5 now. The small change makes it look a lot more comfortable.

If this is the mobile logo though, it may be too small to see the WarLight comfortably. I think my earlier suggestion would look more in place as an iPhone app icon.

Arun is right this is for the mobile app. Originally I did actually just use the "WL" letters. However, one of the most important purposes of an icon is to convey an idea of what the app is all about to people who are not familiar with the game. Just putting "WL" doesn't add anything. A map of the world with attack lines at least gives an inkling of an idea that the game is about conquering the world.

At one point I did put the full word "WarLight" in the icon, but it's not strictly necessary since everyplace the icon appears, the word WarLight will be next to it. Some apps do it anyway, and this icon does have room for it, but I still kind of like it best without the word there. Especially when viewed on a device where it says the app name directly below the icon.

#6 stretches the map vertically just a tiny bit and makes the background pattern slightly more visible. What do you guys think?

I think 5 is the best now, but 6 is very close too.
I think they're nearly perfect - the proportions look good, and I like the red rings around the points on the map. Maybe if the colour gradient was a bit more obvious on 5?

There is not a lot of difference between 4, 5 and 6. But the small differences make 6 the best one in my opinion.

Furthermore, WarLight might not be needed, but I think it would be better. Without it it still is very good, but it seems somehow weird to me that there is no logo or words in an app :)
