Jobs you always can do:

Play games for money.
Play poker to earn a living. You are smart enough for that. It would work for you, but you would need experience.
Teach.
Teach them a language they dont know. A bit difficult since you only speak english.
But teaching school kids in other classes would work well too and pays enough to get around.
Work as a waiter, barman.
Yeah actually I never did that, but I am sure you could find something if you would ask around.
Work as a bouncer.
Look for an club playing alternative music. That is important since you have to expect the least dangerous clubbing folks there. Then tell them you do martial arts since your 12 birthday and you have been a bouncer in boston already. When they do employ you, act confident and hope your bluff will never be called.
Market research.
You can do market research. Its basical standing on the street, being all nice and asking for peoples time. Pays good if you are good.

Slugging.
You can always undress, put vaseline all over your body and roll around on the floor naked, pretending to be a slug. Maybe you get fed.

Fight crime.
It doesn't pay well as you are anonymous, but it's very rewarding, and you will be able to further your career as a newspaper photographer.

I think I'm going to be passed around by family for a short while. But even staying here one night I feel guilty. I don't think I've invaded his space or anything but I do not want to become the unwelcome house guest that does not leave. I would like to have employment even if it is part time locked up before I moved out though.

I'll look for restaurant/bar work probably starting tomorrow/next day. I'd like to get into an office job through a temp agency. A girl I went to college with is here and she says she's tempted by accounting positions she sees so I'll look into that as well.

I dont think I have the patience for poker, though that would be an interesting way to make a living.

I can't imagine what teaching jobs are open to americans in Australia, this isn't Asia.

I don't think I could wake up in the morning and be okay with myself as a man if I slugged my self around. But to each their own.

I've been palling around with family so far this week and will be up on the North Coast for a couple of days at the beginning of next week.

Tuesday I walked the opera house, the botanical gardens, and the Maritime Museum. The Maritime museum has a number of historical boats you are allowed to walk around, that didn't peak my interest. They also had some great exhibits. I liked the one on Ansel Adams and the two exhibits documenting trade between India/Indonesia and Australia. I don't often think of the geography of this part of the world, but Indonesia is very close to the tip. It helps to understand the migration of the people's into NZ/Hawaii. Though how those two were civilized such a long time ago is beyond me. Imagine leaving mainland NZ and hitting this small speck of land Hawaii.

Wednesday I walked down to Darling Harbor and walked back along a massive construction site. Supposed to take about 9/10 years and I believe it will greatly transform the city skyline. Walked over the Sydney harbor bridge both ways, beautiful views. Failed spectacularly at getting my phone fixed. Finished the day by walking through the NSW art museum.

Today if I feel adventurous I will make my way into town and stop by the American embassy and then get a tax id number so I can begin working.

I will see Tigger sunday, should be amusing to say the least!

I have not adjusted to waking hours in Auckland/Sydney at all.

I crash at about 10PM and then am awake at 11 and crash at 1 and then am up at 3 and crash at 5 and finally get up 7. I would like to do a regular sleep pattern body!

Sadly tigger did not bring his onesie tigger outfit. He tells me he will make sure to remember next time though! I think we have tentative plans to go to the zoo and end the evening at the beach with a fire and beer.

He did bring lovely paula who was excellent company. AND is who is much too good for him.

It was a good time as we went to a couple of bars and I got to drank at midday, which is always terrific! Had my first german meal (or bastardized "australian" version of it), he meal was really good.

My phone is still a piece of shit and is pissing me off. I gather I can't use my verizon sim card with my iphone in aus, for whatever bloody fucking reason.

Off to the north coast this week, a farm out west for the weekend and dubba for the beginning of next week.

When I get back I will be looking for work in earnest and hope to have something by the end of July.
