I've been palling around with family so far this week and will be up on the North Coast for a couple of days at the beginning of next week.
Tuesday I walked the opera house, the botanical gardens, and the Maritime Museum. The Maritime museum has a number of historical boats you are allowed to walk around, that didn't peak my interest. They also had some great exhibits. I liked the one on Ansel Adams and the two exhibits documenting trade between India/Indonesia and Australia. I don't often think of the geography of this part of the world, but Indonesia is very close to the tip. It helps to understand the migration of the people's into NZ/Hawaii. Though how those two were civilized such a long time ago is beyond me. Imagine leaving mainland NZ and hitting this small speck of land Hawaii.
Wednesday I walked down to Darling Harbor and walked back along a massive construction site. Supposed to take about 9/10 years and I believe it will greatly transform the city skyline. Walked over the Sydney harbor bridge both ways, beautiful views. Failed spectacularly at getting my phone fixed. Finished the day by walking through the NSW art museum.
Today if I feel adventurous I will make my way into town and stop by the American embassy and then get a tax id number so I can begin working.
I will see Tigger sunday, should be amusing to say the least!
I have not adjusted to waking hours in Auckland/Sydney at all.
I crash at about 10PM and then am awake at 11 and crash at 1 and then am up at 3 and crash at 5 and finally get up 7. I would like to do a regular sleep pattern body!
Where is it you want to meet? I suggested somewhere for breakfast and you poopooed it without suggesting an alternative =/. The beach is gay, especially for a bbq. Sunday morning theyre all going to be fucking packed and im sure setting a small fire is going to be looked on very unfavourably. Bbq at yours?
Sadly tigger did not bring his onesie tigger outfit. He tells me he will make sure to remember next time though! I think we have tentative plans to go to the zoo and end the evening at the beach with a fire and beer.
He did bring lovely paula who was excellent company. AND is who is much too good for him.
It was a good time as we went to a couple of bars and I got to drank at midday, which is always terrific! Had my first german meal (or bastardized "australian" version of it), he meal was really good.
My phone is still a piece of shit and is pissing me off. I gather I can't use my verizon sim card with my iphone in aus, for whatever bloody fucking reason.
Off to the north coast this week, a farm out west for the weekend and dubba for the beginning of next week.
When I get back I will be looking for work in earnest and hope to have something by the end of July.
