"Yes, Dad?"
"We're going to Jungfrau." My father told me this just today. He knows how much I want to travel, and he knows I love mountain climbing.
"We're going to Switzerland?!"
"Yes, Alex. I know how much you want to travel. I know you love adventure. Think of this as a Christmas gift."
"Thank you, Dad! I love you so much!"
"I love you too, Alex."

I'm excited to go to Switzerland. I love it when I climb and reach the top because it is a representation of my life. I've always been weak and shy. Climbing mountains is hard, but the thrill of making it to the top is so worth it. You need to work hard to achieve your goals. I've been trying to open up to others but I'm still rather shy and will only talk with my friends and teachers.
"Alex, what are you doing?"
Well, I've got to go. I'll be leaving for Interlaken. Don't expect a response unless I get to Bern's airport.

Finally made it to Interlaken. I'll be staying here for the time being, I'm going to try to adjust to the climate here. It feels much colder than I'm used to because I haven't traveled somewhere this far north in 6 years. I'm currently in the library, and will be reading books in the meantime.

Yes, we're going to Jungfrau!... is what I would say, if we were actually there. Nope, we're going to Fieschertal traveling through Grindelwald. Hey, I'm still excited, because we can prepare before we actually climb the mountain. Can't climb if you don't have much energy.

December 25th, 1945

The colony government has surrendered to the Japanese. I heard that they will force people to learn Japanese, rename the streets and place names, and force the citizens to learn Japanese. People fled, the army left the city, buildings were bombed, the urban area that once prospered is now just rubble. The rest of them are in immense fear, and until the war is over I think hope won't be restored. Oh lord, save me from this pain!

This is on purpose. That was the day HK fell to the Japanese, and it won't be handed back until three years and eight months later. This is a tribute to the dark years of my homeland.
