But Dan, the crown dependencies and the overseas territories aren't part of the UK. They're British land but they aren't part of the union. The only overseas territory that doesn't have it's own flag is Akrotiri and Dhekelia. However, the only thing there is some military bases. I'm pretty sure is someone from the army was playing warlight there, it would show up as Cyprus.

Also (on a pedantic note), the Channel Island isn't a crown dependency. It's a geographical term for a set of islands in the English Channel. The 2 crown dependencies are the Bailiwick of Jersey and the Bailiwick of Guernsey (often abbreviated to just Jersey and Guernsey). Other smaller islands within the Channel Islands are considered part of either of the 2 bailiwicks and some of them are part of France.

Long story short: trying to auto-detect countries on a website is completely impossible to get perfectly right. If it's mostly right, most of the time, that's already quite an achievement.

What's the point about telling in which state is the IP i'm connecting from?

There are players who use tags or even clans to tell where they are from or which language they speak, but i don't think everyone (not me, for sure) like that the first and most notorious sign about who I am be the country (the state) i live in.

One could not feel confortable about it, or it could help to spark hatred and prejudices.
If most of us use ficticious profiles, why should be provide this real data beyond our will?

Fizzer, it would be great if you set this issue as optional in further releases.
