If you are denying Russia is doing anything wrong than you are a fool. If you are denying a boycott would be effective in making Putin and Russia take notice, you are wrong.

That's further away and I haven't seen a petition for it. I think that tournament should be moved too though.

You know it was actually supposed to be held in Quatar but FIFA changed the location because of on-going war and the respiratory disease MRS

No, it wasn't! The 2018 World Cup has always been planned to be hosted by Russia since they 'won' the bidding process. Qatar are hosting the 2022 World Cup.

what makes you think fifa gives a shit about some "signatures" on a webpage? How many of those signatories do you think are actually going to not watch the world cup? And what difference would that make to fifa? And I mean strictly monetary difference since that's all they care about. Come on son.

If anything will get done about this or Qatar, there needs to be huge pressure put on the sponsors, one after another. they are the ones with the power, not the schmucks who like to watch football on tv.

Ain't gonna happen. Blatter is in Putin's little right pocket, right next to his wallet. Besides the pretense of sports being above politics has a long fraudulent history. That it is a pretense couldn't be more obvious:

Nothing is above politics, good luck in your wee poll.

And Angela Merkel is in that picture as well, are you somehow suggesting that Germany's recent World Cup win had anything to do with politics?

No. Politically, it doesn't really matter that much who wins these tournaments, so why bother manipulating and risk getting caught? But isn't that a nice little trio?

By the way, notice the funny timing of those NSA/CIA espionage 'scandals'. A harsh stance on Russia would hurt German businesses quite a lot, so is it really just a coincidence that all these little 'secrets' are made known to us just now? They do help shift the public opinion against US policy quite a bit. Which just so happens to make it easier for the administration to stall and mitigate any real sanctions vs. Russia. How convenient. Germany's finally back on track along the Sonderweg. Of course it's also nice to have France by their side in this one. But what about the majority of EU members and practically every state in Eastern Europe that's not a Russian puppet?
Well, who cares... we're already getting away with screwing over half of Europe over the debt crisis for fun and profit; this will go nicely.

Oh yeah and should it really come to 'serious' sanctions, I'm sure we'll find our way around those as well, just as we did (and still do) with Iran.

I wasn't referring to the winners having political ramifications in the slightest. Although there may be some subdued affects.

I'm talking mostly about hosting games. Which does have economic and therefore political affects. Also how Blatter being seduced by Putin can help Mr P give a greater illusion of power.

Think about it, Blatter likes being surrounded by such powerful people because it flatters his ego (or wallet although that's not certain). But why does Putin want to be there? Russia weren't in the final....

It suprises me that of all the people getting killed, leaders are never among them. How hard do you think it would be to kill these people you write petitions about? Are you morally against killing, or is it a problem of courage?

I would be fine with killing a figurehead if it was completely justified and had a realistic chance of ending the crisis.
