I think what you have for the majority of the circle bonuses works well. From what I've seen, most the bonus follow a pattern: <=20 territories in the bonus, bonus is equal to 60% the number of territories in the bonus; >20 territories, bonus is 25% the number of territories.

I think you should apply this logic to the rest of your circle bonuses, but use this key:

*1st tier bonus=60% number of territories inside, ex. ABC Islands is a 1st tier bonus containing 3 territories, so it should be worth 2
*2nd tier bonus=50%, ex. Dutch Antilles is a 2nd tier bonus, cause it contains 1st tier: ABC Islands, Dutch Antilles has 6 territories, so it should be worth 3
*3rd tier bonus=40%, ex. Leeward Islands is a 3rd tier bonus, cause it contains 2nd tier: Dutch Antilles, Leeward Islands has 14 territories, so it should be worth 6
*4th tier bonus=30%, ex. Lesser Antilles is a 4th tier bonus, cause it contains 3rd tier: Leeward Islands, Lesser Antilles has 20 territories, so it should be worth 6
*5th tier bonus=20%, ex. The Caribbean is a 5th tier bonus, cause it contains 4th tier: Lesser Antilles, The Caribbean has 30 territories, so it should be worth 6
*6th tier bonus=10%, ex. West Indies is a 6th tier bonus, cause it contains 5th tier: The Caribbean, West Indies has 34 territories, so it should be worth 3
*7th tier and after=5%, don't go lower than making a circle bonus worth 5% of the territories.

Use these rules to help apply the key:

If a bonus contains parts of other bonuses, apply this key in order of territory count.
If a bonus contains more than one bonus, apply the highest tier it can get.

Ex. If there's 3 overlapping tier 1 bonuses that all share at least 1 territory, the one with the lowest territory count stays a tier 1, the next lowest becomes a tier 2, and the highest becomes a tier 3, but if that tier 3 overlaps part of a separate tier 5 bonus that has less territories than the tier 3, then that tier 3 becomes a tier 6.

With each territory being worth 1, the solid square bonuses, those would balance out the bonus drops for the higher tier bonuses.

No, it's not even technically balanced. Rick Sanchez has a plan but it's complicated and don't understand it. He made a spreadsheet but was using an older version of the map so had to restart.

Use a spreadsheet and label bonuses please but i want small bonuses no large incomes.

I got a theory on how to balance it, its quite some work to do tbh.

first take the territories, then look in how much circle bonuses they are
for example:
United Kingdom is in 3 circle bonuses, you notate :

United Kingdom 3

then you divide 1 by the number you got

United Kingdom 3 1/3=0.3333

you do this for each territory
so you got a list

Country1 3 1/3=0.3333
Country2 5 1/5=0.2
Country3 6 1/6=0.1666
Country4 2 1/2=0.5
Country5 1 1/1=1
Country6 4 1/4=0.25
Country7 5 1/5=0.2

You got a circle bonus that contains country 1 4 6 and 7
Then you add these numbers up so 0.3333+0.5+0.25+0.2=1.2833
This circle bonus is then worth 1, cause 1.2833 isnt possible

If you do this with all bonuses and Joey approves this you get 1000 coins almost a color or a yearly membership

Balancing bonuses requires an intuitive understanding of the mathematical graph which is the map. There are probably programs that can tell you the graph's weak nodes and strong nodes, but that level of design is unnecessary and too much effort. What you should do is play a lot of games on the map with multiple alts and figure out the "heat map" of the nodes; you don't want clusters of good and bad nodes, but a uniform mosaic of good and bad nodes. Adjust the bonuses in order to even out the "heat map".

Is anyone having trouble comprehending that bonus strategy Sick posted? If you get it and are interested in balancing the map and use a spreadsheet I will gladly fork over 1000 coins.

Honestly, I think I have to agree with Vernal Vinaigrette.

You have a diplo-like bonus system where each territory is worth 1. Some territories connect to two dozen other territories. Some territories connect to only one other territory.

"Balancing" this map doesn't depend on giving the larger bonuses a somewhat calculated value: it depends on how valuable each territory is, which will probably depend on how many other territories it connects to.

You could do some complicated calculation trying to give a value to each territory and then compensate with the big bonuses...
Or you could make a single-player template with 40 AI's, one starting territory, no fog and random distribution, and run it a dozen times.
See which starting territory loses the most, give it a slightly higher bonus, run another dozen times. Sees which starting territory loses the most, give it a slightly higher bonus, run it another dozen times. Rinse and repeat.

After a few hundred games, you should have a pretty balanced map. Shouldn't take you more than an afternoon.

If anyone is interested, I made a spreadsheet showing one way to balance the bonuses.

*Note: I so far have only made one using my method. I will make one using Sick's method and update this post to include it when ready. Then Joey can decide which one he wants to use or try and find a 'best of both worlds' case.
