I almost never go over 1 minute except on very rare turns where i change my mind a couple times.

sry for double post, forgot to answer the why part ^^
i usually go fast because i see priorities and i'm thinking while watching turn (in competitive games i always watch turn, and in all games i "show orders").

as for the amount of armies to attack with its usually pretty easy to decide based on how much income i have, once i know the basic plan applying it just takes a few seconds.

I'm guessing that you are referring specifically to the 1v1 auto game on real time.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say, less than 5 minutes, averaging around 3.

Other types of 1v1 strategic get played on different timetables.

I've noticed that the 1v1 auto game for mutli-day often gets played (in part or even in whole) on a slow real time basis, with 10-20 minutes turns, spaced out with 4-12 hour breaks on some turns. It appears to be the game of choice for people who are on warlight a lot, but have other things to take care of.

1v1 ladder games are frequently played with any range of time, from fast real time to 2d 23h every turn.

How long it takes to physically watch the turn and input orders does seem to be about 1 minute, though.

depends who you are playing. some players will never move until you move first because they have a hack where they can see your moves. so if you try to prevent them from doing this and wait until they move first, it is a mexican standoff and ever move takes the full 5 minutes.

with non-cheaters most moves take about one minute

Are you serious about the hack, because Fizzer needs to know about it if it is real.

I sent fizzer several emails about this he never responds.

It's not a myth there are games where it is 100% obvious that people do this.

But you don't have any proof. I have seen hacks for some multi player games in this russian website, but because of the language, I couldn't make sense of it without a mate helping me.

you can see some general statistics about movement speed on people's profile page.

as for strategic 1v1, i quess i 'm on 2-3 minutes average.
why? well, usually the game is quite in-depth, there are cards, chokepoints, you have one opponent so figuring out his next move is well worth it, and the overall balance makes it a competitive template.

as for the hack, such a hack would be extremely hard if the server just doesn't send any info over until everyone has takes his/her turn.
(hacking the info just send to your computer is a lot easier then to actually hack a server)
i assume Fizzer programmed warlight this way, so i strongly doubt the hack exists.

WarLight is built in such a way that no sensitive data is revealed to the client application. That means it's impossible to build an app that reads the data stream and gives you additional info (such as seeing through fog or looking at other player's orders.)

The only way you could do these things are:

1. If you control two accounts on opposite teams, and use one account's ability to see his teammates positions and orders to relay information to help the other account win.
2. If you guess or otherwise learn a player's e-mail address and password and then log in as them.

I sent fizzer several emails about this he never responds.

This is a blatant lie as I've never received a single e-mail from him, nor anyone about this subject. Given that these guys can't produce a game link, and are making up stories it's clear these guys are just spreading FUD. I recommend ignoring them.

Also you said that the data is not sent to the client - but what about the server? If they hacked the warlight server they would have this information, right? That must be what they are doing.

I will bump this thread with suspicious games. They happen frequently.

Oh dear. This has to be stopped. I told Fizzer about some info I had dug up by asking Phase 2 and the info seemed credible. As I have mentioned, other games which are supposedly 'uncheatable' have been hacked by a group of Russian people on this website. I didn't think that WL had been hacked but it must be possible.

Fizzer just told me it was impossible and as a non programmer/computer expert, I have to look at the evidence and make a judgement based on that. From the evidence, my opinion is that some guy who speaks Russian has managed to hack the server, uploaded it to the Russian site and now people are capitalising.

I just hope the ladder doesn't become infected with cheaters like this but no game should be won by cheating like that. I hope there is a way to defend against it; as a programming idiot, I don't know.

Any programmers here that could shed some light on this?
