I was working on a map just because I wanted to try some ways to make the borders looks better.
I think I found a way that makes them look fine and it doesn't take me a lot of time.

This is the map: http://warlight.net/SinglePlayer?PreviewMap=33740 (It's not finished, I wasn't planning to make it public, it was just a test)

I want you to tell me if you think it looks good enough or it could be better.

And now a question, does anyone has a formula or something to make "superbonuses" fair? I was thinking but I will have some superbonuses with less than 30 territories, and other with more than 60, so...

The bonus are set just as equal of the number of territories, my plan is not to leave it that way, so if you have some ideas that could help me to make a balanced map, I was thinking in it but I'm not good at it.

Thank you.

Dont make too high superbonuses, it can make worse an otherwise cool map. Dont forget that the players receive all partial bonuses and the superbonus is extra income, better if the superbonus is just a symbolic plus.

A high superbonus can make a map very unbalanced. If you give 30 income for your superbonus this will be happen in game: you move forward with your rival head to head in income, someone get first the superbonus and BANG, it doubles his income, then he block the other superbonuses with his huge advantage, and the game has no reason anymore.

In the case of superbonuses the less is more. Its not cool when who get a superbonus first already won the game.

Formerly I made huge 25-50 superbonuses on my maps, then played a lot on it and saw that it can just terminate the game, then change them 5-10 even so for really huge 50-100 territories too.

When I mean superbonus, what I really mean is a bonus which is made by a lot of other bonuses, but what I have in mind is to give just an extra income of 4 or 5. But it is not going to decide the game, it's super in order that you need a lot of territories to complete it, but it is just going to give a few armies extra.

Yeah thats cool, then I misunderstood, I believed that you want set the income of superbonuses equal of the number of territories.

No, sorry, I don't speak English very good, maybe I said that bad. What I want is to make that with a fair distribution of income, and I don't know how to do it because it is the first map I want to do it.

So I was asking for help.

I used to set for single bonuses as many income as territories have -1. Or if you make bonuses with many territories then as many income as territories have -2. But there are many other possible factor, for example how strategic the location of the bonus. Some people use tiny and almost worthless bonuses to sparate the wealthy bonuses what can be very cool.

With a constant formula you can define the strategy of the game. Usually people take the small bonuses first and the biggers later, but if you lower the value of small bonuses the strategy changing. There are no optimal formula, it depends what is the concept of your map, there are a lot of possibilities.

One more thing. In a good map no matter where you start, no matter where the automatic distribution place you. Its one of the worst thing when in an unbalanced map you know certainly at the first turn that you will loose or win.

Missing connection:
Ponte Vedra<>Campo Lameiro
Ponte Areas<>Mondraiz

As for superbonuses, a tip is to create superbonuses with a "bonus" of 0. This allows players to set them to whatever they want when creating a game, but you won't have to worry about making it balanced.

Edit: oh, and also I think your map looks quite nice. However I'd suggest you make it clear (somehow) that Salvaterra is one territory and not 3. Since right now that's confusing.

@Urfang I will do something like that then, maybe how there is some bonus of 3 and some bonus of 9 territories, I will set like a 75% of the territories or something like that. Thanks!

I will try to make it the most balance I can.

@Hennns Thanks for the missing connectinos!!!

I thought about it, about set them as 0, and explain in description they can set this extra bonus, but I wanted to make it more dinamic with the superbonus from the first moment. But possibly I will do that.

I thought about it but, for example, that exclave that it actually has, make it an important region in south, because if I erase that exclaves Neves wouldn't touch Ponte Areas or Salvaterra wouldn't touch Caniça.
But I will think about it, because you're right, it makes it a bit unclear.

Thanks you both!
