I've played on the ladder against Johnny5, he was nowhere near as good, and a staller.

Not Angry Birds though?

I'll be honest here. I believe that the bad publicity Gnuffone has gotten from his actions may have been punishment enough (Although his 1st place achievement should be taken away), he shouldn't be banned, and all cheating suspicions shouldn't directly lead to people thinking it's him. Heck, give him another chance guys. Ease up on him just a bit. He's only human after all, and we all know that humans make mistakes.

I was with you, then the 'give him another chance line'. I've talked about the extent of his cheating before. It's unforgivable as long as it is unpunished officially.

... I've avoided this issue until now because I knew it'd be taken the wrong way. I am mearely asking if anyone knows whether it's just a coincidence that Gnuffone seems to be playing the same players again and again.

I said in the original post that I thought Johnny wasn't Gunffone. I also said my claims might be based purely in paranoia. While I didn't post at the time, I thought that while Gnuffone may have done something bad he didn't deserve the kind of attacking he got from people like Arun (I'm talking about in-game chat here). He may have deserved a punishment, but he got bad enough punishment from the community and I don't know if there's enough solid evidence for Fizzer to do anything about it. Anyway that's all in the past and we shouldn't dwell.

My point is I didn't intend (however it seemed) to contribute to the man-hunt and I don't particularly want to be associated with it. In hindsight prehaps I shouldn't have posted about my baseless paranoiac suspicions.

TL;DR
I agree with Fridge, Lion and MoD.

@beaver: I'm not sure you should be throwing stones. The current stall streak you have going right now puts you on par with Pulsey and Odin, and only a step or two below Gnuff's shenanigans. There's no way you think you have a chance vs. Fatih, El Diablo, or myself, but yet those three games will likely still be going for another month or so.

I think a fair response to his widespread cheating is continued doubt and suspicion. He wanted to appear as the greatest player, and now that will always be in question. Seems like a fair comupence to me.

Regarding this, just report it I guess?

Definitely stalling vs. me.

Almost certainly doing so vs. El Diablo and Ottoman Emperor as well.

Not sure if their games are s over as mine is, but there's no way he could beat me by now, the game was decided several turns ago. We're talking an income advantage of 16 vs. 9 and he has two dead starts.

lol @ Nauzhror.

First i didnt stall any of my games when i reached #1 spot because non of my games where over yet.

2nd everyone here knows since i reached #1 spot on the ladder im stalling games. No news there probably only for you.

3th comparing me to gnuffone? Then you don't know what gnuffone did! i haven't cheated on the ladder because it is not against the rules to stall. I'm just wanna know how high my score can get. it's 2380 now so need 1-2 more wins to reach 2400+. But now you are saying that what i do is almost as bad as what Gnuffone did makes me a bit sick. Just for fun i will stall my game against you as long as possible you freak.

Hey, @ Angry Beavers: Don't forget to commit against El Diablo. I don't recommend commiting at 2 days 23 hours since real life might distract you.

"First i didnt stall any of my games when i reached #1 spot because non of my games where over yet. "

Bullshit. You began stalling vs. El Diablo May 28th. You hit rank 1 June 2nd, the same day you also started stalling vs. me. Except you began stalling vs. me 10 hours before you hit rank 1 because you knew you'd lost after turn 1.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56Qng-bIt68

There's a youtube video of our game. You were never, ever, "in" the game. You've been dominated since turn 1, and knew you lost the game so stalled it to get rank 1, and have since stalled it, your game vs. Ottoman Emperor and El Diablo as your only means of keeping rank 1.

And no, everyone didn't know you were a stalling dirtbag, Piggy was quite obviously surprised by that news based on his post.

In fact it's quite obvious you don't want everyone to know, seeing how mad you got when I brought it up.

PS: You're right, stalling isn't against the rules. Neither is me surrendering every ladder game for the next three months at turn 1 so that you get beaten by a 400 rated player.

Do you want me to give you a loss so bad it knocks you straight out of the top 20?

So, I'm curious, how long till you get kicked out of GG for being no more honorable than Odin? Or is honor not something GG actually requires of its members any longer despite the "— good reputation" clause in their recruitment requirements?

It also wouldn't be against the rules for every opponent you get from now on, in future runs on this account and on Ctrl Alt Delete ♦ ɌeLite ♦ to stall every single game against you so you can never get ranked. Wouldn't make it any less lame. The wording of rules is rarely important, it's the spirit that matters, and you're breaking the spirit of the rules every bit as much as Gnuffone has, Pulsey has, and Odin has.

How many times do we have to go through this? STALLING IS NOT CHEATING. Sure, it is a bit cheap, but not the same as cheating. It is merely gaming the system. Blame the system for that one. I wouldn't do it (and it annoys me too), and I'm not aware of any other WG players doing it either, but that doesn't make it cheating either.

I don't know who's alts are who's anymore (not that I ever had a great handle on it). All I know is that it is quite clear Fizzer has no intention of policing them in any way. So, as a community all we can do is snub Gnuffone and punish him in our own way. Take him off your invite lists, don't invite any of his known alts to anything either. We can't do anything about his ladder antics (since he's already been reported), but we can shun him from all other events.

@Chris

No one said it was cheating. No one cares if it cheating. It not being cheating doesn't make it okay.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_and_spirit_of_the_law

Spirit of law is what actually matters to most people. Stalling is against the spirit of the rules whether it's against the letter of the rules or not.

As for whether WG has stallers in it, yes, marc2013 has stalled on the ladder as a means of reaching rank 1.

First off, Odin didn't get kicked out of GG because he stalled. It was his partnership with Gnuffone in the 2v2 ladder that got him kicked out, or so I've heard.

I'm not proud of stalling, but I'm not ashamed to do so either, and it always amuses me when people like you start complaining and abusing the player because they don't play the way you like, or because they've violated the 'spirit of the rules', as you say it. I agree with Chris, stalling is cheap, but its not cheating. You don’t like it? You think it crosses your arbitrary line of unsportsmanlike behavior? That's too bad. Hate the game, not the player.

There is the old quote ‘If you can’t beat them, join them’ or if you are really desperate, you can start complaining like sze and repeatedly loudly announce your boycott of the 1v1 ladder until its changed to the way you like. (as if anyone cares whether he participates!).

The ladder system has been like this for a long time. Theres no point moaning and complaining, hoping the world will change to your liking. If you really want the high ranks, adapt, if that's too ‘dishonorable’ for you, then shut up and keep playing, or you can leave the ladder and play with people you like and trust.

Stall on, beavers. :)

"Theres no point moaning and complaining, hoping the world will change to your liking."

With this logic women shouldn't be able to vote, or drive, or work, or speak against their husband.

We should also all own several slaves, because trying to change the world is silly, and being progressive is silly. Just accept everything as it is without ever attempting to change it.

Infact, quit playing Warlight, go get on a slave ship and start catching prawns.

Idiot.

Sure, you are right, Nauz. Apart from adaptation, you should also fight for the change you want to see. But is this what you are really doing, picking out players and denouncing them?

'Oh Beavers you naughty boy for stalling against me! You liar, you stalled against el diablo and me! You dont deserve the number one! I am going to surrender all my games just for revenge!'

Seriously? You would sacrifice an account just for the sake of 'revenge'? Grow up. Feel free anyway. It wont affect Beaver's rating much.

If you want change in the ladder, talk to Fizzer. Crying, complaining and scolding people for their ladder etiquette will change absolutely nothing and just makes you look like a fool.

Crying? I'm quite sure no one has cried because Beaver's an asshole.

Protesting things though most certainly has an effect. Even if Fizzer does nothing, if anyone that stalls gets shunned from all invitational tournaments, and is shunned from joining clans, then that's also most certainly an effect.
