Currently playing in a match with this guy, he's leaving the turn to the last second every time, could be here for hours if he intends on playing like this until he's defeated, I might have to surrender just because I need to go to bed some time soon even though this should rightfully be a win for us.

S&D, The complaint is that bartela is purposely committing his orders just seconds before boot time.

From the sound of it, and checking my common games with him, bartela is could very easily enter in his orders in under 1 minute, but is likely taking the full allotted time each turn.

If there are 10 more turns until elimination, you're looking at nearly an hour to wrap up a game that is clearly in the bag already. Dragging out a real-time game to force someone into surrendering based on real-life constraints is pathetic.

This is one of the biggest problems with warlight, the booting system. It is too easily manipulated and abused. However, there are a lot of people that think the boot system is just fine. I doubt it will change anytime soon.

That's pretty low of him. Have you pressured him to surrender, or told him you're telling people about this on the forum? When that happens I've seen people get all apologetic and give up.

Heh..that's funny becuase in another game which I played with him he pressured everyone to take their turn by saying "go" all the time. It strikes me as odd that this person would also continue to be a moron by not taking his turn until the very last second...I ended up losing the game becuase I had to go.

Thanks for the tip...I'll blacklist him as well.

1. Game Link or it didn't happen.

2. Technically speaking, it is 100% in his power to go up until the very last second of boot time. If you don't like waiting that long, play games with a lower boot time.

3. I've played like that before on multiple occasions. I've had games where I've been down 20 income and ended up winning because I sat there for 5 minutes thinking about my moves before committing.

Regarding (2): That's technically true. However, you may want the ability to occasionally spend a long amount of times in turns when needed, which is prevented by setting a very low boot time.
I think this idea has been mentioned before, but it would be really nice if you could have an option to get banking boot times with some starting pool of time.
So maybe you get 20 minutes, plus 1 extra minute per turn, so you can take a long time a few times if you need to but can't overly delay the whole game.

Perhaps there can be an update that after someone commits very close to the boot time for around 3-5 times, it says "This player is playing extremely slow. Do you wish to boot him". That will get rid of those that play super long.

Except that I go very close to the boot time constantly because I like to think about my turns before I take them Mylor.

FD, I believe there is a uservoice for that somewhere. Everyone complains about the boot system, but no one upvotes the uservoice. Fizzer isn't going to fix the booting "problem" if no one upvotes it; it just shows him that its less important then other things.

Not if they are intentionally play slow to annoy the other players.
It is fairly easy to play JUST fast enough to avoid triggering that (for example, playing 1 turn of of 3-5 barely fast enough so it doesn't count as "too close").

Plus, it makes the problem of some people booting too fast worst, particularly in games with low boot times.

You have to sit that one game out and blacklist him. It's not so much of a problem, since it usually only takes one offense to never play with them again.

CPU "Pro" gamer, use prerequisites to keep noobs out of your games. Then you won't have problems like this and have to come whining on the boards.

I like the idea of having a "This player is playing extremely slow. Do you wish to boot him" option, although it would be better if it was based on the player's speed, like if the average is within 45 seconds of the boot time. Of course, people managing large empires will have difficulty, so I think territory amount and income should also be taken into consideration if this new wonder button that says, "This player is playing extremely slow. Do you wish to boot him" will come out.

Personally, I do not believe in prerequisites as they can be exclusive, but this isn't a debate forum, so I'll just leave it there. I understand the prerequisites can help change the game, and prevent players from abusing less experienced ones, but this is just an opinion.

Some people who, even though, have a good record will periodically "troll." I'm not against trolling, unlike some overly-serious player, as I'm a sporadic troll myself. It helps pep a quiet game up, and if the trolling isn't way too annoying, it can actually have a positive effect. Face it, most people troll. The ones who don't admit it are the REAL trolls. :)
