In other words, when I name a bonus, is it possible to use brackets?

I believe so, brackets are in my experience the same as special characters. So if your bonus name is [bracket]. Then you just call it BonusLink_bracket in your inkscape file.

I'm not sure I understand. If I wanted to name my bonus 'Kingdom of France (1328)', would I call it 'BonusLink_Kingdom_of_France_bracket_1328_bracket' ?

I tried that originally but it didn't work? I'll try it again when I have time.

Only A-Z 0-9 characters are allowed for bonus ids. You can add brackets when adding the bonuses on the design maps page.

Yes exactly, that's why you should just call your bonus BonusLink_KingdomofFrance1328

If you ever don't know what to name a bonus link, just type your bonus name into the map designer and it will tell you what to name the bonus link object.
