Isaiah 40: 28-31

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

hey guys,

I understand there are no rules on this, and I don't want to rain on your parade here, but ideally off-topic should discuss politics/religion or anything else 'off-topic' once, and then the forum thread is closed. Renewing this thread once a day and having it pop up at the top of recent forum posts is annoying.
If we want to seek God, we will find Him in our hearts ourselves.
This is not a Christian recruitment site.
I do not mean to offend anyone. Please create your own private group chat and share these with yourselves.

Thanks Marcus for politely expressing your objection to this thread! It shows character in the way you expressed yourself, and it makes me take your request more seriously!

As for your complaint, I have considered it, here is my response:
1. As you've stated, there are no rules here, and though a one-off discussion may be the norm for most off-topic threads, I see no reason why this should limit all threads to be one-off discussions.

(sorry, running out of characters of my phone's typey thingy, so will do this in multiple posts.)

2. As for the annoyingness of this popping up, I personally don't think it is something that cannot be ignored (all you see is the title of the thread on the list of threads, it's not like you must read it). There are plenty of other threads that do the same thing, and to some are no doubt equally as annoying (or not).

But to check these first two points, I will ask Fizzer his opinion on the validity of both your and my arguments.

3 (&4). While yes, knowing God is certainly something that is decided individually, I believe that unless you are taught something, you cannot learn it. That is to say, in this case, unless you are exposed to God and His Word, you cannot really know about it. And I get that some don't want to know; they don't have to read this thread. But as for being a recruitment site, I agree, Warzone isn't. In fact, for the most part, it's a very secular environment. But my reasoning for doing this is twofold:

The first is the one you have kind of hinted at, that is to encourage and inspire other believers (like Viking). If this was my only aim, then your suggestion of a Christian forum would be entirely appropriate. However, my second motive was basically to be a light in this world, which as Christians I believe we are called to do. And that means everywhere. And I know that most non-Christians would not want to read these sorts of things, but I don't know whether one day, somebody might have had a really bad day and decided to read the verses that I put here, and were encouraged.

So, in conclusion, I will ask Fizzer his opinion ( because the bible tells us to honour our earthly masters, insofar as that does not involve sinning against God), but until then I will continue to do as I have been, since I believe it is a good thing to do.

Once again, thank you for so respectfully expressing your concern!
Sincerely, LND

With all the cynical arguments that are basically just people yelling "I'm right and you suck and you should listen to me and believe me," it's nice to finally see some debate that's actually polite, one where people just share their views and try to reach a good conclusion. The point of a good argument is not to make others believe you, but to find the truth and find out what's best, in a respectful way. Everyone, take this as an example.

This was Fizzer's reply:

Hey LND,

I am OK with religious conversation in off-topic as long as the subject clearly indicates that it's a thread for religious discussion, as yours does. What I don't want is people finding a religion debate when they don't want it, such as if it inserts itself into an unrelated thread. But since someone opening your thread knows what to expect I am OK with it.
