Well if it makes you feel any better - British derives from the name the Romans gave to the Celtic people (Tacitus) whilst English derives from Anglo - Saxon which has it's roots in German / Danish / Dutch tribes such as the Angles, Jutes and Saxons. But really . . .ikr?

british isles is more characters than gb & ireland. so not only is it not easier, youre causing a fuss over nothing.

Just call it Fish, Chips, Beer, and Potatoes.. problem solved!
