I already pointed out the flaws of the template to tiano when it was new. Biggest flaw: the first pick should always be the +1 bonus. It allows for quite a bit faster expansion cause you get basically an extra territory with 6 starting income on turn 1... The map itself isn't really fit for these huge incomes. I don't think there is a good possibility to outplay your opponent if you're behind on income slightly since there are almost only chokepoints and little room to flank.
