Since I heared a lot of warlighters expressing their worries about players having a low incentive to earn more money, I will introduce you to the XP and award system.

Players and managers alike will have a skill system on which they can spend money and XP. It is mostly only BETA, but i am working on making it ready to have the first season with.



Player XP gain :

contracted a season 1XP
fielded at least once a season 1XP
play a game 1XP
win a game 1XP
eliminate a player 1XP



Player skills (so far)

Popular Player/player popularity [unlock 10XP Effect: (club gets a bonus of 1% to the prize money per game won per level 5/8/13/21XPetc lvl2/3/4/5etc)
Frontman/Media Vehicle [unlock 10XP] (requires Popular Player) (player earns 5% of his salary in addition to his salary in sponsorship contracts) 5/8/13/21etc. lvl2/3/4/5/6etc.
Personal Trainer/Fitness Guru [monthly cost cumulative per level of Trainer $3.000/$5.000/$8.000/$13.000etc lvl1/2/3/4etc] 1XP gain per level of trainer per gameday


some Awards that will be given:


Special Awards (one time awards):


The Wanderer (player played for every club of the League 20XP)
The Warlightminator (player eliminated the most players in two consecutive seasons 50XP)
Veni, vidi, vici (player won the championship with every club of the league 100XP)
The Cursed (player missed all games in a season due to random events 50XP)

Player Awards (seasonal awards):

Champion (player wins championship) 5XP
Moneymaker (player gets the highest salary within his category) 10XP
Richy Rich (player gets the overall highest salary of the league) 5XP
I should have demanded more money (player with the lowest salary gains championship 20XP)
Bonecrusher (player scored the most eliminations in a season 10XP)
Top scorer (player won the most games of a season 5XP)
Benchwarmer (player has not played a single game in a season 5XP)
Jinxed (player misses the most games in a season due to random events 10XP)

Manager Awards:

Champion (manager wins championship) 5XP
Moneymaker (manager earns the most money in a season) 5XP
The Mastermind (manager with the lowest team salary wins championship 50XP)
The Nickelnurser (manager finishes a season while paying no player more than minimum salary 20XP)
The team is the star (manager wins championship without fielding a category 1 player 50XP)
Experimenter (every player of a club played along every other player in one season 10XP)
Le`ligue c`est moi. (manager wins the league in 3 consecutive seasons 100XP)

If you have an idea for an award that you think needs to be implemented, let me know. I might use it modified or unmodified.

I want players to occasionally have diverting interests from the managers interests. Eliminating other players could be something like that, especially if a player is to get the Bonecrusher or Warlightminator award.

XP for elimination seems silly to me. Most people surrender before an elimination happens and if one is to happen, who is to say who is the "eliminator"? Is it the person who did the most damage to the one eliminated? Is it the person who made the final blow?

For example, let's say I complete, single-handedly wreck an enemy, but my teammate was the one to do the final 2v1 attack on the enemy's last territory, causing the elimination. Does my teammate get the XP? Seems unreasonable to me.

The person who made the final blow. Let there be animosity in teams, doesnt have to be fair all the time. I just wanted to find a few other means of getting XP, if you have a better idea, please share.

Home Sweet Home: player with the best (league) record on the home map of his team.

Switzerland: player doesn't ever get into combat with enemy team during a game while his team still wins. (and finishes the game, i.e. is not booted, surrendered or eliminated by his own team).

Defence Crusher: player with the single attack that did most damage (defending units killed) with 1 attack.

Wall Builder: player that killed most units in 1 single turn with defence. (attacks allowed during turn, but only the defensive kills count).

Comeback Master: player that gets wins while he or his team was behind most often during the season. (where total number of turns behind in games won is counted)

The Popovich Award: (manager) A team that regularly fields its better players in home games and its weakest players in away games.

((Team Name)) Crushers: Ten games in a row won against the same team in consecutive seasons.

Traitor: Player that attacked his own teammates most often.

Free lunch: Player that made the most money while playing the least games. (i.e. the player with the highest income that played only 1 game (players that didn't play a game, don't get money afaik?))

If you are contracted (ie in a squad) then you get paid each round, even if you dont play.

Also teams could have captains? Because the managers influence is limited to off the play, but he should have a nominated leader on the field (of battle). Maybe this player would only be eligible for one team?

Im assuming that when the games are created the manager will be invited too and then just decline. that way he can still talk in the games and Manage from the sidelines so to speak.

@regl john you have to be member to access them. Not every manager is a member and since they set up the games, there is no guarantee that we can always provide that information.

@sasha i am aware that only a fraction of people understands it, but maybe a few will as soon as they can see the XP in effect. Maybe that already is too complicated for the majority of players, but since they dont have any work to do, I guess they as much as dont have to care. This is the first season and we just want to see, what is okay, what needs to be improved

The statistics panel doesn't give you access to anything that you wouldn;t know already, plus any member with the gamelink can pull that information.

I like it! And I like the elimination awards. Will there be a rule around surrendering so there can be competition for getting kills (eliminations)? Such as, no player may surrender until he is the last remaining player on his team? Probably this will prolongate games too longs, but, it'd be really fun! And give something for players to compete against their teammates for, which I think would be exciting.

@mikkelsen yes it would be nice, but it would sadly not only prolong the games, but frustrate a lot of players to play on a game they already one, just to hunt dont a player for another 10 to 20 turns. To ensure a fast season we have to abstain from changing the rules. Elimination will happen out of opportunity and luck.

IMHO the "should've demanded more" award is worth too high. That sort of counteracts the players demanding higher salaries, which as I understand it is quite important in making the league a success. I'd suggest making it either worth 5 xp OR make it worth 10 but then make the "moneymaker" award worth 20.

Rookie of the year - same but only for new players ie from season 2. Though this years rookies could be taken from only the lower tiers

I was just thinking about how in real sports there's definitely some competition within teams for who can score the most points/ goals or assists or things like that. You know, personal stats are important to players. Maybe we can have prizes for most army kills? And fewest armies lost. The statistics button for members measures this stuff, right?
