I took an anthropology class on sexuality. Basically it comes from the puritan colonizers. They thought it would keep men from masturbating. Later on they tried to medicalize their reasoning but the research was flawed. They think being uncircumcised increases the risk of STDs or infections but the study cited compares men in an impoverished part of Africa that don't have running water or basic hygiene so it's not a fair comparison. I think the most common reason now is that people just think uncut penises look weird. What's really fucked up is that until pretty recently, there was this idea that newborns couldn't feel the pain of a circumcision so a lot of babies were having their foreskin wacked off without any pain meds. They hooked babies up to EEGs and they were showing signs of anxiety and trauma.

Well, people who are cut lose a lot of pleasure so they might also last longer. Also helps keep the lotion industry in business.

what do you mean, I'm uncut and I use lotion.

Not sure why we care, its clearly not harmful in the long term, and it happens so young that none of us remember it happening anyway, not like FGM where they do it to adolescents and stuff

perhaps it's the fact that many westerners consider mutilation of body parts immoral unless it's done to male genitals.that double standard angers us

actually there are studies proving it has no impact on attractiveness, altho it can lower confidence (most likely because you look different from everyone else) it has become a social norm and there aren't too many other reasons. some doctors do recommend because its easier to clean, but tbh, uncircumcised genitalia is no excuse for dirt and grime.

doesn't rly matter either way but might as well follow eveyrone else for the sake of "normality" ;-)
