Bonus is a Latin word when you're speaking Latin, but when you're speaking English, it's an English word. It may have come from Latin, but it is an English word in the English dictionary. Just because we borrowed it from another language doesn't mean all the rules of that language still apply. Half of all English words are borrowed from other languages. Do you have any idea how messy English would be if we followed different rules for every word? It's bonuses.
But I do not even know how to make borders not overlap.
