This is canceled. Not enough people could make it those dates. Let's regroup in the spring. But I don't want to deal with renting a place. We can just show up with our laptops at a Panera or Starbucks.

I don't think you're going to get many people to travel potentially hundreds of miles to hang out in a Panera for an afternoon. But they do have pretty good cookies.

ya i think the best bet would be to do it teh same time, same kinda style as Berlin. It will make it easier to organize and it would be cool if we did it at the same time

heck, you guys can even try streaming it together

@Bonsai that's why i offered a place to stay. Dealing with renting a place, especially when people are flaky, is a pain in the butt. Also anything under 10 people is not worth renting a place. Way too expensive, probably not gonna be able to drink, need to find where to sleep, etc.

renting a place is much better, people will be more comfortable coming to a hotel or even a motel area (i do not require the softest silks or feathers in my pillows) because it is a more neutral spot. Free is always nice tho. But Ido not mind sharing a hotel/motel room with 3-4 other people

I agree with Sora on this one. I think it would be more comfortable if it was in a neutral location. While I can't attend at the current time, if this event is moved to the summer, I might actually be able to come.

+1 on sora. A good neutral ground would be best. Also, its completely fair to recommend that players who attend chip in for the cost.

The hotel situation shouldn’t be the issue. People that go to a legit event (not a slumber party) shouldn’t be able to figure out accommodations on their own.

What the conversation needs to be about is what are these people gonna do at the actual meetup. You get like an hour or two a week of warzone talk from me, so are people really gonna just hangout at a bar/park/whatever and talk about warzone for a day? Something legitimate needs to be planned in that regard.

lol who is even going to talk about warzone for a whole day. at best, some games or tournaments and that's pretty much it :p

We were doing to play warzone. I don't have any talks or events in mind, like the folks at Berlin open did.

You should do your best to at least build some sort of itinerary if you want to do something like this. I mean, you want people to drive hundreds of miles just to hang around and play warzone? Probably something I would not be as interested in.

That's fine; we almost had 4 people and only 1 was going to drive a couple hundred miles. I think this will still happen when the dates align for 4+ people.

Someone else is welcome to organize a bigger event, with a rented venue, a schedule, maybe a presentation or two, and I will try to attend.

My plan is to do one when I go to grad school. But that may be in New York.

I could do one this spring in Ames or Des Moines if there is enough interest... My problem is I don't have a car... and I also get the feeling many people don't want to travel that far.

That’s why I want to meet at Brony Con. We just do Brony Con stuff and I guess some Warzone games idk. Depends if we feel like it.

But really the best bet is something on the east coast. And I think more than 4 peeps will be more attractive. I still like the bar idea. I don’t drink but the setting would be better IMO.

If i go to new york for grad school id defo organize one out there.

Probably 18 if I was to do it so I don't run into youth technicalities when I plan it.
